TCO approached me yesterday to help him ending his problems with some members from here and I ended up being the topic of discussion because I said I´d help him. Then he provided me the link to the thread where the attack against him was going on and while Im no longer going to help him out I feel the need to explain my actions.Feel free to ask whatever´s on your mind.

If someone has been acting in a way that breaks the rules/refuses to address the issue when a mod comfronts him about it/says that he doesnt mind being banned to another member this member has been given a fair chance of a hearing and has refused to speak, there are several ways of working around this one and someone else(dont have ban tools yet) thought that banning you was acceptable.

Also, no other moderator PM'ed me except you. Whomever told you that I was busy with my family and job and school and "wanted to be banned" (by your logic) was lying. Unless of course you are saying that Sallamandrina popped in and said that I "probably wouldn't care" in which case you took her intentionally out of context because she and I converse (commiserate) personally and she showed up to defend what she saw as a gross abuse of power and a perversion of everything that she and I worked for when we were running the place.Sallamandrina made a post on the mod chat explaining what you told her and Moog/Tallyman worked with that in mind.
Bringing me to another question. In that thread of mine that was quickly hidden in the sand, Sallamandrina voiced a very loud opinion and gave her goodbyes to the board she has been a part of for several years and moderating for many months. How can you justify silencing her last posts like that?

I think that it's a mistake to think that the only legitimate cases of abuse are those where a police report has been filed. I think that most incidents of domestic partner abuse are unreported.

She sounded like she was just telling the truth to me. She said that she was almost catatonic after it happened and it didn't sound like she was in a fit state to file a report. She posted about the incident quite some time after it happened and I don't think that there's any point in filing a police report a long time after an incident here.

The mod team understands that, but Alex himself didn't.As I stated on my first response alex has a history of looking for his own benefit and posting that on his board wasnt a wise move.

Spongy one thing to keep forefront in things is that both sites are different and that there is no real need for one site to emulate the other nor for one site to take on the other's values. These things in themselves are not the things that make a forum.
History and culture do.
If I was the new owner of WP, I would make a big subforum called "Arena" and throw all the emotards in there, and "lock" their permissions and then do a bit of character building with them. Survival of the fittest. Myself and a few friends would be invited in to harden these whiny aspies up.
I would concentrate on real life issues and constructive debate and get them to think past self-fulfilling failure and inconsequential moanings. Work with what they have not focus on their ineptitudes.
But you see, as great a concept as I see in this, it would not work given the culture there.

I suggest Odeon, PPK and Hubert are particularly soft touches here. All the new guys have a callout when they join.
I would strongly suggest you look at the person, out of these, you would most like to argue with and line them up and go to the callout section to hone your flaming skills. Once you take these three out then you can work your way up to Couldbecousin and Queen Victoria and Renaeden. It is all good fun and you will be fine

How many hours a day/week do you spend in your duties as a mod on WP?

It depends on the week/day. I try to keep an eye on most threads at wp as a normal user and whenever I come across something that doesnt look right I contact the member in question about it.
If it had to be an average( about 1 h on week days and 2 h on weekends). This may be extended if a member contacts me about an issue they´ve been having with a member/thread.
Im not sure about what my time is worth but when alex approached me with this idea I thought that it was an experience I wouldnt normally get to do and that it could help with my naivety so I took it(A good friend of mine was also starting as a mod at the same time so that helped a little with this decision).
-Pretty sure we can all agree that alex isnt as involved with his board as he should be, however I do believe that Moog an hyperlexian are doing their best to help other users and try to make wp a better place.

Well Ive noticed that I missed a few comments due to the amount of activity this thread has had, its nothing personal, just that Ive been unable to keep up with all youve written.

Is it an assertive attitude you are hoping to approach rather than a combative one? An assertive attitude means you confront someone calmly and with respect rather than with raised voices, clenched fists, and threats.
For example, the other day I was in a movie theater with my husband and daughter. The lights had been dimmed and the funny commercial for silencing cell phones and no texting had already played although the movie had not started yet when someone right in front of us started obviously texting on his cell phone. The reason for not texting is that the glow of the screen is distracting to the other people who are trying to watch the movie.
A non-confrontational response would have been to say nothing and hope that the person stopped texting when the movie started. A more combative response would have been to tell the person to stop texting or else I would go get a manager to throw him and his cell phone out of the theater. What I did was to ask the person if he was going to be finished texting by the time the movie started and he finished the text he was working on and put his cell phone away.

Is it an assertive attitude you are hoping to approach rather than a combative one? An assertive attitude means you confront someone calmly and with respect rather than with raised voices, clenched fists, and threats.
For example, the other day I was in a movie theater with my husband and daughter. The lights had been dimmed and the funny commercial for silencing cell phones and no texting had already played although the movie had not started yet when someone right in front of us started obviously texting on his cell phone. The reason for not texting is that the glow of the screen is distracting to the other people who are trying to watch the movie.
A non-confrontational response would have been to say nothing and hope that the person stopped texting when the movie started. A more combative response would have been to tell the person to stop texting or else I would go get a manager to throw him and his cell phone out of the theater. What I did was to ask the person if he was going to be finished texting by the time the movie started and he finished the text he was working on and put his cell phone away.

How so? I had a similar thought when I first came over here. The problem is that I2 isn't a group of expat Wpers that desperately want to rejoin with the motherland. Less than half have ever even had a WP account, and WP makes up less than 1% of the topics of conversation here. It probably looks like the main source of discussion for you as it went that way when you joined, and every time it moves another way you manage to steer it back.
