The shelties I dogsit are probably doing the same. I'll ask them when I see them on Sunday.

oh yeh a funny thing that happened today. i got called "girly boy" by a little kid on the street lol

every time he sees me he says hello .  he seems young to be out in the street on his own though. younger than my youngest brother imo. maybe i'm ttoo paranoid though. If I had kids I'd never let them out on their own

so yeh , I dunno whether he thinks I'm  girl that looks like  boy or a boy that looks like a girl. one time he asked me something and I said "I dunno" and he went "oh yeh, I know what you are- you're a boy"

kids re great. they just don't care about offending people at all  :2thumbsup:

(I don't mean I am offended - I mean I hate the uncomfortable situations you get when adults think they've mistaken you for a boy/girl and assume you're offended. awkward... lol)

Shit, you are a "girlie boy?"

Hell, all this time, I thought you were a boyish girl.  (not really, you pussy! I know you are a girl - if I was your age, single and less than half a continent and an ocean away, I would probably be sniffing your trail and marking out territory)

Been over ten years now, that someone addressed me as young man or boy. Happened quite a lot, till around 30 I think. I've never had a problem with that. But it has not happened for a long time. And my daughters have told me that I am slowly turning into a proper woman.
There is a sexist cat who might be mistaking me for a man this year. Someone told me he is untouchable for women, yet he walks up to me to be cuddled.

I have a long lifetime of evidence to support this.

Some animals can certainly see right through what most humans see as "truth."

If I was truly the Dawg (actually, an aged scarred wolf, "missing a fang" and limping, but still holding his tail and his snout high and keeping his chest wide to any opponent's view) that I "play for fun,"  I would NOT have been exposed to so damn much trauma in this life.  I would certainly not have been so fooled so many times.

I don't  know wht sex cats think I am though

With people I think it's 50-50 whether they think I'm a guy or not. Unless I speak. I have a really girly voice unfortunately

It took me a few minutes to figure out why the trees above and ahead of me were lighting up   We only have to have emission inspections in my state which it difficult to fail it's all about the money.  Lots of other states do whole car inspections every year or two for safety reasons but not here.  Lights like that would drive me crazy on my truck and I even check the alignment of them frequently on my fence gate at the end of my driveway

Agreed. One of the "customisational"  changes I made to my very boring, old mini-van was to upgrade the lights to LED versions.

You must understand that since it is proven that many older people lose their ability to see the red end of the spectrum as they age and become more sensitive to the blues, it only makes sense to use night lighting in your automobile that helps you to see at night.

This is not annoying to me as a driver of a vehicle with bright as hell, alien-looking blue lights who is losing his ability to see red or the light from a red source reflected off things I need to avoid running into as I drive at night.

My LED headlights are all about win, in my estimation.   (expensive conversion, though quite worth the expense)

OK, I didn't know the science behind it. Good to know.

Human eyes are generally more sensitive to the blue end of the spectrum (interestingly old fashioned photographic film is much like old beat up human eyes, in that the most sensitive range is blue and the way to see in a darkroom is to use a RED light, since film is not sensitive at all to the red end of the spectrum), but as we age our eyes change to become even more sensitive to blue (one other thing that happens to our eyes as we age is that our eyes become less adaptable to any change in lighting - in practical terms, that means that it takes older folk longer to focus their eyes on something they are intent upon seeing and an incidence of bright light interrupting the dark of night tends to "dazzle"  us older follk to a greater degree than a younger person with much more responsive irises.) and we eventually lose the ability to see red as more than a dark shadow.

This has nothing to do with cataracts or any other anomalous human condition. This is just the body wearing out one thing at a time. Cataracts and various other accumulations of minerals and fats in the vitreous fluid within the eyes  begins a whole separate discussion. Probably a discussion important enough to warrant making up a thread all its own.

BTW, this whole thing with red sensitivity worries me with anticipatory dread, since red is one of my favorite colors. I loathe the day when the color red becomes a shadow to me.

At that point in my life (going back to another thread here), I will be near the bottom of my bag of reasons to NOT commit suicide.

Does the loss of red sensitivity really get that extreme? I hope not. Maybe you won't even notice it; maybe the loss of sensitivity only shows up in tests,
and is not an issue in everyday life.  :chin:

Sure, but realize that you are talking to a person who used his eyes for work/hobby interests. I was so damn good I look at a photo, (or even sense things during flash photography and know when one flash lamp has lost its color or power, by a tiny percent, which most people in photography can not do after years of experience) and tell the lab to adjust the cyan down one or two points and the yellow up one (that means one out of two hundred fifty five degrees of intensity), for instance and get the color perfect.

My own eyes have already changed enough that it is impossible to compensate for the cumulative differences - just the ones I am able to sense, mind you. I am already losing my eyes. I use my eyes.  I already miss them.

It was always a hobby and I do not do this for a living anymore, but the interest has never wained, even in all these years (I began photographing when I was a child - I have never lost the urge).

Photography is something that I will probably always pursue.

Except for the purely commercial usages, I have yet to embrace the digital photographic processes. Sure, I have a digital camera to document our kids lives, but I do not use it to express my need to make art.

I still use my film cameras, including a Sinar P2 kit in four by five format.

This is an image of an eight by ten version of the same model from a retailer in New York. Mine looks identical to this, but it uses four by five film, instead of eight by ten  (those numbers are in inches, measuring along each edge of the film, btw).

Film and people who process the non consumer grade stuff is getting harder to find. This was my brother's business and life up until not that long ago.  He specialized in custom B&W processing,  all by hand on equipment that some of which dated to WW2

I am not concerned about what other people are doing in this business - never have been. Except for a few months at a time after moving or something, I have had a darkroom since I was twelve.

I have modern equipment, however.  You can not process C41 with older equipment.  For one thing, the older gear was designed for black and white film and keeping the processing temperature near sixty eight degrees, plus or minus a degree or two, was simple and only required a pipe running under the building to temper the water.

With C41, the processing temperature must be maintained within one quarter of a degree to achieve consistent results, also, it must be at one hundred and four tenths degrees, so a heater is necessary.  It is much less fuss to simply use a machine designed to maintain the temperature properly. Aside from the temperature, though, the actual developer is also critical to maintain consistency.  A perfect consistency is hardly necessary when you are processing for the general public, since no one cane see even forty points of color difference, but when you are expecting accuracy, you MUST follow the process as closely as possible.  Even batch numbers can make a visible difference, in both developers and film.

I generally use my gear to process E6, however. It is a process that was designed to be used for processing slides or positive imagery, instead of negative imagery like "plain old film."

Except for a bit of black and white, I have only used slide film for about ten years now. I had switched to digital for my commercial work before I was "retired,"  a few years back. Back then digital imagery really sucked, but we had to enter the digital world in order to compete.

The largest image size I could create was five megapixels and the gear - a complete camera system, flash, radio remote, multiple backs, fancy camera, several lenses, etc  -  cost more than a new Cadillac.

I understand. It is a minority of folk who go red-blind.
So, when it does, how do you make it go away?

We have decent "eye docs"  in this country (I think mine is up to speed, from my own research) and the story always ends sadly.

While it may not be universal (Helll, some people lose their hearts or their livers or kidneys first, even their fucking hair, but what if all that still works fine and you begin to lose your eyesight. Do not tell me that you [No, I mean you, Odeon - we know each other this well, right?] have not considered this tragedy as real), the ones who are affected have some problems that modern day science is not able to address, clinically.

I get that I am in a minority of slightly less than fifty percent.  That does not make it any less of a "scary thing"  I have to deal with.

Nothing terrifies me more than losing my eyesight. My foremost fear has always been macular degeneration because it destroys the central parts of your field of vision, making you unable to read or watch a film but leaves the peripheral vision to remind you of what you have lost. It's as fucked up as these things get. Of course there are other eye problems to fear (most of which I have considered at one time or another) but this one is the worst.

My eyes have always been troublesome anyway. I've had eye surgery five times (to correct the strabismus) and I'm hoping for a sixth so they can fix the scarring that is now causing me problems. The vitreous humour in both my eyes is detaching from the retinas, causing floaters that often block parts of my vision. I need fairly strong glasses and now that I'm older, I also need special reading glasses.

All these things my OCD reworks into obsessions and fears and unwanted thoughts and actions, endlessly repeated throughout the day. The meds help some but cause other problems.

So yeah, I guess I have considered all this, time and again. Actually, I've considered it all for most of my life. My AS support person says that she'd never met anyone with a negative OCD-induced obsession lasting for so long.

There is nothing I fear more.

Two random self-observations on this page and the first for the thread; just observing randomly.

I actually came to this thread because I had some shit to say about people who take for granted things that have happened in the past as continuing into the future.

I had an old "friend"  come by, just a few minutes after I had come from work (I was still overstimmed as a fucktard) and make a big deal out of his presentation of something that I can not use right now.

He presented me with a Schorschbräu (a fucking hundred dollar bottle of beer, but cold filtered to remove the water and such so as to make it the same alcohol content as Scotch, but bubbly like regular beer.  I am not drinking these days!!)

I fucking mined his mind for the reason he made this gesture, but only came out with the fact that I had done a candid pic of his daughter a few years back that somehow captured her essence.

I did not want to "hurt his feelings,"  so I was as gracious as I could muster, and accepted after many refusals, but it turns out that his daughter has taken ill.  (They think it is leukemia. )

I tried to tell him to take it back and get something for his daughter (his praise of my work and the effort he has made to express this to me is more than enough to last me for ages), but he insisted that the pleasure I have brought to his entire family was truly from the hand of  "God."

(not quite sure where to go from there)

I just said that, I hope that things go well for him.

I really do not need a one hundred dollar bottle of beer as a gift.  I have only so much humility.

I know, that was very contradictory, but I am like that, contradictory that is, to the very core of my existence.
 :-\

That post was probably a kind of "threadcrap,"  since it was not all that ramdon.

At this point in time it is almost impossible to be ramdon.

Sorry.  Rough shit to get past.

i'm sorry you feel that way, i also value my eyesight. but remember, the universe responds to positive thoughts, so think them. my thought patterns are really destructive too, and i spend most of the day fighting with my thoughts and drinking them away, so i know it's not easy, but make every effort to stay positive and not give into that negative crap cuz it's a whirlwind that pulls you down if you let it. focus on the things you're grateful for, and shove the fears away as much as you can.

i know that sounded stupid and peppy but i find even minor adjustments during the day have a great impact. i always have to keep at it though, and keep from staying down too long after i trip on the tripwires. cuz i do every day, trip, but how long i stay down is the maker or breaker of me. it's really fucking hard sometimes.

sometimes i wish i could just remove my brain. you know? just for a moment. and maybe run water over it, some soap... but no, gotta do the washing inside out, it's hard.

maybe that's the thing that makes me so tired.

That bit was merely erudite articulation, via urban 'netspeek.

Do not allow it to cause you bother, overmuch. The historical translations attempted in the future will render most graphical imagery just as mysteriously meaningless as translations of similar imagery have in the past.

Point of order here!!

I prefer the more the more huggable women, in my own personal taste.  (I am actually married to a very huggable woman, for the rest of my life. Let alone the fact that she was gorgeous in her youth, she is even more desirable to me on this day than ever before.  Yes, things have changed between us, due to getting older - we no longer fuck like rabbits, for instance - but the reality is that I will never look upon another woman without an instantaneous comparison with the love of my life and, as yet, all have not measured well against the standard she has set in my own mind. I seek no other, despite the fact that I always look.  Uhm, that is the Dawg in me - can not help it.)

I had that random thought watching a "pig for rent" male, about thirty five, vastly overflirting with an eighteen year old hottie/waitress. I felt so bad for her, but she was holding her own in the onslaught, so I just watched her punk the pig for rent asswipe/jerk and went on to philosophise about the incident.

Sorry if you got the wrong idea. I am certain that I lack the ability to express myself well.

Another observation:

Why in THE hell do they think they need mirrors when choosing eye wear.

I mean why the fuck do people "look in a fucking mirror" to determine if these particular lens frames are serviceable or not?!!?!!

When I chose my eyewear frames last week, the technician kept trying to put a mirror in my face. This was very distracting to me from what I needed to determine. I finally just grabbed the mirror from him and set it aside.  I needed to find if these frames fit me and that is an internal thing that has nothing to do with a mirror and I NEEDED to determine if I could live with my choice and that is even further away from anything a "negative space with a fancy frame"  (fucking mirror)  can tell you.

Basically, my thoughts are that using a mirror while choosing eye glass frames will make you see things that are not important to your ability to see better. If you are truly trying to find a way to improve your eyesight, then set the mirror aside and "LOOK THROUGH THE FUCKING THINGS"  not   "AT THE FUCKING THINGS!!!"

I understand that some degree of vanity comes into play when we add accessories, but we MUST make a difference between fashion accessories and utilitarian accessories.

GET RID OF THE GOD DAMN MIRRORS FROM THE EYE GLASS FRAME DISPLAYS!!!  WE CAN NOT BE BITCHES FOR LIFE!!!

The more high end shops for glasses here now give people the chance to look for comfortable frames, and then they can take the two or three they think are best home, to decide there on which one to take vanity wise. And to have family members help them choose, because, with strong prescription glasses, how can you choose the looks of a frame, when there are no glasses in them?

I look in the moirror when choosing frames. I have a very high forehead which I take into consideration, and I'm a girl! I'm supposed to be more vain!

So, you are making a conscious choice to be their bitch?

I find this to be a  more conformist view of the reality of choosing frames, when compared to what you have shown me in the past about yourself.

... but you are joking, right?

I care what frames look like on my face. I wear my glasses all day, every day, and for years before buying my current pair, I made do with ugly old brown plastic frames that I hated. If the eyeglass store didn't have a mirror, I would look for any reflective surface in or near the store so I would get some idea of what the frames would look like on my face, which is rather fat and has the aforementioned high forehead. Frames cost plenty, even with insurance. I want to get the most flattering pair for my money.

... but you can choose the "look"  of the  frames before you try them in service to your eye sight.

Once you make a decision to not have dorky glasses, why do you need a mirror?

This may be the very static thinking that I have been offended by so often.  WE are more intelligent than to depend upon a mirror (remember that mirrors lie!! -   -  - - maybe I should start another thread about this and the many ways that mirrors tend to lie to those who depend upon them so desperately) to determine how we can see!!

You do understand that mirrors truly hide what others see and that what you see inside the mirror is only a lie of light. You will never know much about what you show by looking into a mirror.  If you do not see that mirrors reverse the image, then some math is due for your study.

Mirrors lie to you.  This is a basic concept of photography that all advanced photographers use to sell their work.  Do not be taken in any further. Mirrors lie!

Satan will cry for weeks to lose my devotional efforts, if and/or WHEN I become Christian, assigned to God for all time. I am a really GOOD sinner, supporting all that the fallen angel stands for, right in the face of Michael and the other avenging angels. What bounty I bring to the table of Satan's meals will be sorely missed by multitudes of fallen angels as I wither away from them.

The most beautiful of all angels, God's favorite Angel, Lucifer, will weep for his loss of me for ages.  All of the fallen angels will miss what pleasures I bring to the feast for their gorging upon.  The crying of fallen angels over my savior will last for ages upon ages and I will have a new holy book written about my efforts in the Second Revelation of the New Bible, after the Second Coming Of The Lord.
 :asthing:

...   or not.

Likely I will be stricken by bodily pestilence until I am no longer able to seek what I need, all while I am quite aware, and my corporeal essence will be sent back to the very dust from whence I came, with my mind intact, while it eventually will be forced out into the universe, well away from what I know.

On one side I am disturbed to know that sheer torture lies ahead for me, but on the other hand I am gladdened to know that when I am done with this bag of salts, I will have a knew life to strive for.

It was a man "on foot"  deliberately.  It was a man with ALL of his worth, set aside. it was a man who had nothing left to lose, it was  man unlike myself, it was a man who offended the essence of who I am, it was a man whom I chose to use his own mind against, it was a man who probably should not have been left alone in the woods.

I am sure he just needed a hug, a piece of ass and a BMW. Any one of those would have made him present to strangers quite differently, but the combination would have sent him into some form of Nirvana.

I can wholeheartedly recommend camping out as a way of finding humour within oneself.

The getting wet part is negotiable, as are the choices about whether or not to carry the proper accoutrements to effect casseroles, but the humour is NOT.

Bug fears constitute another whole separate conversation.    .....     all that for another time, perhaps.

Anyone remember the song from the early seventies ... ?

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

It has not happened.
 :'(

I feel that I have invested too much of my life listening for and seeking out  "The Piper."

I am beginning to feel that it is my time to just give him up and learn to play the pipe myself. If there is reason in my tune, I invite you NOT to follow my rhythm, but to pick up your own pipe.

The small panels do not make so much of a mess.  I will be glad when I can start gluing things up.

It is like that in my old neighborhood in my hometown a lot.

It was all plans of identical houses that was supposed to be where the coal miners lived. So, they are almost identical half-double houses, and there was a yard in the middle that was also measured out perfectly.

Well, a few dozen years ago, someone built houses in those yards, also identical. So now it is house after house of half-doubles, and no yards, and everything is all smooshed together like that.

People have painted and done addiction and stuff, so it is not all totally identical - but I bet it used to be.

That's fairly common in the older sections of New Orleans and a lot of other cities.  Long, skinny lots with houses built one room after another (Shotgun house because you could shoot a shotgun at the front door and it would go through the house and not hit anything) or shotgun houses with a side hall.  Anyway, there is usually 3 feet or less between the houses which makes walking betweem the houses fun when people started putting in window A/C units.

They want to go out, and, I'm going to keep them indoors for a couple of days, till the fireworks have stopped.

Somehow I think I will get little sleep tonight. Protesting is best done when I am sleeping.  :tard:

If you have a Hancock's Fabrics, they usually have some ball point single needles, but a twin needle for knits is even harder to find.

Here's a picture of some twin needles and one triple needle, which I have never tried.

You know how hems on knits are often double stitched on top, but on the back it looks like a zigzag stitch?  That's from using a double needle with a single bobbin.

Older buildings depending on when they were built contain a lot of things no longer used due to the stricter environmental and heath regulations today such as lead paint and asbestos.  They might also contain mold from water leaks over the years.  I had to take a special one day class on how to deal with lead paint during renovations and all the rules that apply to it.  That is not to say the dust from new buildings going up is harmless there are still a lot of stuff in them you don't want to breath in like silica from the plaster

I've wondered what it is about most tiny dogs that I am not fond of. Is it the way they are, or, the way they have become, because of their humans.

People seem to treat tiny dogs as babies, and bigger dogs as dogs.

On first sight, I trust a big dog so much more than a tiny one.

Maybe this should be in the pondering thread?

Da'yum!!  That is a long view.
Here it is too flat and ever so slightly hilly to see much past a mile, most places. You would have to find a really high spot to get a vista like that.

Not familiar QV, but can offer you a nice vodka, some absolut raspberry vodka. One of the better vodkas, absolut make some good ones. Their lime one is nice too, especially with fresh lime.

Or next time the pharmacies open, I could whip up my signature cocktain, a manhattan project (ingredients-tesco own brand cheap lime fizzy pop, a good neutral vodka or lime vodka plus fresh lime slices, carefully once mixed, poured over a layer of care+ or Bell's brand codeine linctus, the non-sugarfree version (sugar free tastes of vile synthetic orange and just does not even entertain the possibility of suitability for a manhattan project.

The manhattan project, then has  a little shooter full of diethyl ether floated on top of the long tall glass of codeine syrup (those brands are flavoured/preserved as manufactured, with chloroform of all things and it smells and tastes lovely, a distinct smell of chloroform and taste of that same smell, an aromatic sweetness, the CHCl3 is a natural ingredient of it and is not added by the cocktail maker) with mixed lime pop/fresh lime juice and pulp plus grated zest added to the boundary between the hydroalcoholic layer and the codeine-linctus chloroform-flavoured layer for most efficient extraction of the lime zest terpenes) is wedged two pieces of sliced lime, plopped onto the edge of the cocktail glass, the shooter of diethyl ether is placed between them and trapped with a third, axially oriented slice of lime with two slashes cut into it to allow it to slot over the first two wedges. Drunk like a jagerbomb. Hence the pun name manhattan project. It being a reference to the united states nuclear bomb programme. Tastes great and packs a real punch. The ether should be floated over a little neutral vodka with sweetened lemon and lime fresh juices to dilute in the shot and drunk in one swallow, followed by some of the rest of the drink (more diethyl ether can be added, although just a few drops, if its to the taste of the drinker, diisopropyl ether can also be used, and neither of them are to be industrial grade, but ether of the finest quality. They may however contain traces of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) or butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) which are common both as food additives and in minute quantities as an inhibitor to peroxide formation in ethers, peroxidized or hydroperoxidized ether must not be used (and indeed its fucking dangerous all round, since it likes to explode with the least of provocation, so much as a whispered profanity in the next room is about enough to set the likes of ethylidene peroxide off in a catastrophic explosion. And doubtless toxic. But peroxides/hydroperoxides can be tested for by starched paper soaked in potassium iodide solution and allowed to dry, a drop of ether is then applied to a strip, and a blueing indicates presence of peroxides, darker, esp. violet-black to blackish is a case for the bomb squad to take disposal of. And if ever you see a bottle of ether that has a crystalline crusty deposit round the edges of the cap DO NOT ATTEMPT TO OPEN IT! these peroxides are incredibly shock and friction-sensitive. The hydroperoxides deflagrate, but alkylidene peroxides detonate, as highly brisant primary high explosives that are sensitive as hell made flesh. a mere few single digit milligrams is enough to cause a blast that will ignite the ether and shatter any glass vessel its contained in, in a big sodding fireball. And a little more...I've seen pictures of a fridge. Or parts of one anyway, embedded in a ruined ceiling after a bottle of ether peroxidized and detonated. Blew the windows out of whoever's lab it was from the shockwave, pulverized the  fridge and blew its fragments up through the roof. Literally. And being oxidizing, not something you want to drink, and probably not to get near chloroform either.

I still see my ex fiancee's cute, round face and infectious grin and hear her bubbly, lively, vivaceous voice in  my head all the time. People say things like that get better with time, etc. etc.

They don't always, and I am as sure as I can be that this girl, is someone I won't ever 'just get over'. Other people I have before but she was special in every way.

I'm shocked.  I just submitted my out-of-pocket medical expenses for reimbursement through a program

Our insurance went from an HMO with just 5 or 10 dollar copays on Rx's to a high deductible plan and it was a shock how much meds cost.

I was on free samples of it until my psychiatrist said it was okay to wean off of it. I tried weaning off of it by myself, and all it ever did me was make me miserable, and blame my sister for everything wrong with me.... Of course the worst side affect was when I was at the Cubs game seeing my team lose by a whole lot. I was literally crying... That Davis guy who was the starting pitcher that game just plain sucked! His ERA was a 7.71!

Was thinking this last week. The mental health practice where my son goes to talk to his counselor switched offices.

There is now parking. Yeah.

The fucking office is enough to encourage suicidal thoughts. Boo.

Most cold, depressing place I've seen in awhile. Told the lady he sees...she laughed. Her office is the only nice one there so far. She said she's brought it up to the head honcho and they're working on it.

I usually look compare £15 to whatever the equivalent is in dollars. Years ago it was at least 1.5 times the pound (Late 20s? Can't remember) then roughly $23, then brexit happened and it went right down to $18. Now it's over $19. I know it isn't much but it's better than it was.

Hmm, that could be even more out cos before the import tax limit was £18, then they reduced it to £15, though that was still a while back.

My dental practice looks modern and very clean, and has a TV. They do regular free samples of toothpaste too, ideal for taking travelling. :P

A lot of dental practices here are both private and NHS. The orthodontist I used to go to did both, and he had much better equipment than the NHS hospital I went to.

Maybe it works well for dentists because...actually, I can't think of a reason.

On the other hand, the hospital I went to for a blood test that was previously NHS, then run privately, was an absolute shambles. It was terrible, and there were so many people waiting around. I think it was one staff member doing blood tests plus other things.
Title: Re: Random Observations

^ I'm guessing that the privately run hospital is a shambles because their profits come out of tax money instead of directly by patients. Otherwise they would get nothing because their service is so bad.

That wine remark...that is rather familiar. I said something like that to a lady who goes by 'heretic', although not said with the same intent. Said to her that she's aged like wine, in that she has only gotten ever the finer and more appetizing (shes around 50, and she was rather taken aback, to the point she didn't at first believe I was being serious, when I couldn't keep quiet about it any longer and told her that I was absolutely fucking crazy about her. I still am. One of the most stunning women I've ever known, seen, or heard of, ever. Absolutely drop dead gorgeous, doesn't look anything like her chronological age, we were together for some time although unfortunately a vile creature that unfortunately, I ended up stuck with as a housemate for way too long, a real dysfunctional, fucked up, psychotic ambulant midden that should have been stamped on as a baby the moment her mother crapped her out for the good of everybody who has ever come into contact with her. Total fucking psycho-bitch histrionic, narcissistic, attention-seeking, lying, thieving, vindictive little rape sprog piece of shit that needs to be force-fed bleach, skinned alive, rolled in salt, nailed to a wooden plank, wrapped in a petrol-soaked carpet and lit up like a christmas tree in hell for all the things she is, and has done to people. Scum of the worst, most verminous kind, fucking pestilent gorgonslut shat forth from a diseased font of all putrescence that ought to have kept her legs firmly shut, preferably welded shut permanently. Little brat came between us, deliberately. There are plenty of things that I will never, ever forgive her for, but that is one of  the most unforgivable things she has done (the former housemate, the one that tried to fillet me with a samurai  sword because I stood up to her and told her to get stuffed, I'll get out of my own damn bed and get dressed in my own fucking well time, and who made at least one false rape claim about somebody who didn't do it, possibly two, I just don't know if the other was false, although probably, given what a lying little hell slag she is. One of the guys IS a vile little creep though, the other on the other hand, whilst I am not his biggest fan, he is wet behind the ears to the  extent he couldn't rape his way out of a paper bag with a cock packed into a shotgun shell with a charge of roofies serving as buckshot if his life depended on it.

(and she almost ended up with the guy in question being murdered and when it proved impossible for the person she was trying to use to have him killed to get transport (the only reason he is still breathing to this day is purely financial, she had me back her (at the time I didn't know what the vile little borderline bitch was, or what she was capable of) and support her making a damn video link interview with the filth to try and get the guy (her ex bf/fiancee in fact!) banged up.

Heh QV...I know what you mean, sometimes I've been guilty of the same thing.

Last time I went to a local welding store, for some replacement argon tanks,  I ended up tooling up with plenty (useful) new stuff, including 5-6 different diamond-tipped/edged drills for drilling into glass, ceramics and stone (pretty sure the will drill metal as well although I've never tried)

Odd looking things for drills, for all but two types I have the bits don't look like conventional drills, they have a straight shaft, but the actual bit that does the punching holes through glass/ceramics  are mounted tips that have a lanceolate leaf-shaped blade with a slight bevel to the side on the edges, I've a separate pair that look more like conventional drills for starting pilot holes, then switch over to the blade-like things to go through. Can cut up to 15mm wide holes straight through glass, enamelled tiles, pottery, bricks etc.

Ended up with a load of other stuff, some high-temperature sillicone-based lubricant thats resistant up to a bit over 200 degrees C, plan to use that for experiments in electrolysis using low-melting eutectic salt mixtures of potassium and sodium salts, to serve as a protecting layer and stop the formed NaK alloy from instantly (and very violently) reacting with air and atmospheric moisture (NaK is a liquid, and more reactive than potassium metal, reaction at room temperature is violent, igniting more or less instantly, at elevated temperature it goes off in a shower of flame and sparks the second traces are exposed to even dry air, and with water, never done it but a big boom would be expected.

A shelf full of cans of dimethyl, diethyl and diisopropyl ether, cans of pressurized pentane and xylene, some zinc in spray form as very fine dust dispersion in a solvent, which I'm currently evaporating for use in dissolving metal reductions, red iron oxide again as super fine powder, ideal for thermite welding and casting (Al powder, iron oxide, a cast sand mold to hold the charge above the thing to be filled with metal, and either a strip of magnesium metal to serve as igniter, lit with a blowtorch, or various oxidizer/fuel mixtures such as potassium chlorate and sugar, diluted with table salt so it burns steadily and at a modest speed but with intense heat rather than exploding, or mixed with wax as a binder and cast into thin sticks for igniters, tipped with a thin section of a greater proportion of oxidizer to fuel to ignite the rest of the fuse, and a thin hole in the bottom of the charge containing mold, through which the molten iron drips out whilst the slag floats to the top.

By the time I'd finished shopping for tools and chemical supplies, plus a new welding mask for dealing with electric arcs and a whole load of replacement gas mask filter cartridge sets (my mask takes two at a time) I'd spent around £360 or thereabouts.

In the summer of 1980 I owned a new paperback copy of The Shining and it smelled like tar.  :)
I would be sniffing that book, not reading it. ;)

Me too I love the smell of tar :2thumbsup:

I'll pass.

They re-pave every few years here out in front. I'll have to invite everyone down.

I'm usually sicker than hell from it for about a week. :zombiefuck:

I'll go out of my way to go on the new roads around here,  they just did Rt 1 and it's wonderful.  Even better than paving is hot tar roofing

Music seems to be better during the summer. I don't know if it's just because it's a windows down, driving country roads in the sunshine kind of feeling or what, but I love it.

People that become unhinged when they see someone in their family care about a person they don't like.

Depends on the person IMO. Sometimes it can be justified as I see it.

Such as in the case of battered spouses etc. or those who are vulnerable and being taken advantage of, who cannot stand up and fight back for themselves.

Then getting..unhinged...is exactly what is called for, on the part of those who do love and care for whoever it who is being trodden on.

Agreed. In this case it was the abuser being upset that a victim was being treated kindly.

Mmm mm.

For the gamers out there: is it feasible to run something like MS Flight Simulator off a USB-C disk? USB-C should provide enough bandwidth but are there problems I'm not seeing?
