I wanted to play Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri, but it kept freezing my XP system so that I had to cut the power to reboot, even after installing an XP compatibility patch.  I then set up a Windows 98 virtual machine in my XP system and ran Alpha Centauri inside that, but it still froze up my XP system and necessitated cutting the power.

That laptop sounds like a vacuum cleaner; I had to wear earplugs to make the noise semi-bearable while using it.

Just got a phone call and someone at work has been fired. It means I will get a few more work hours at first.

Bastard! I now know someone at work I really don't like - an asshole in middle management who made a scapegoat of a harmless, hardworking, intelligent young guy who made a simple mistake.

(He's the guy I used to tease that my beard is older than he is. He's gone.)

honestly, my mum has it on constantly (until i finally lost it completely and moaned about it, very loudly and extremely pithily), and it's such a load of inane fucking babble.  i've never heard such banal shite in my life - who the fuck is it aimed at?  people with lobotomies?

it took less than two days for me to be so stressed about it i had to say something.  bless her, she moaned like fuck, but turned it off occasionally while i was there.  any more of it, and i'm sure i'd have turned into a Stepford Wife.
