The US was designed that way for good reason and I happen to enjoy not having my neighbors be right on top of me.  Europe is the way it is due to it being necessary to build walking cities before cars were invented.   Some cities in the US are designed for walking, but those are usually the older ones.

The abudance of real estate isn't a bad thing lol.   Jacksonville though is unnecessarily spread out it seems.   I sure as hell wouldn't want to live in Manhattan though haha.

Yes the US is kinda sprawling but everyone can't live or wants to live in the city.  If I didn't have to work where I am I could easily do without a car and   if I was to go to NYC I could take a commuter train.  I grew up in Florida we did not have a car and relied on bicycles but I lived in a city that as compact and what you needed was never far. As far as infrastructure goes the distances are very large in much of the country and jobs are where they are we can't all afford to live so close to them go on Craigslist and look how much the rents are in NYC.

Gasoline prices are basically criminal in how high they are.   It is sickening because oil should technically never cost more than 60 dollars a barrel, yet it is selling for over 90 lol.

I'm pretty sure that one day we'll look back and be amazed at how cheap it was to destroy the environment.

The school that she currently attends is a special school for autistic children.  Children travel from all over the state to attend it and I think that we are lucky that it exists.

i agree absolutely, callaway, and no-one could argue that getting your daughter to school is a misuse of resources.

it's the people who leave things plugged in/drive half a mile/fly all over the place unnecessarily who are the culprits.
