I am in the greatest, strongest, labor union in the world.
i am a longshoreman.
i belong to ILWU Local 13, LA/LB Harbors.
proud to be what i am.
during college i was particularily interested in law. i wanted to become a lawyer, but soon learned that it is difficult to make a living out of law unless:
a.) you already have money
b.) are willing to sacrifice your integrity
then i was fascinated by politics. but quickly learned:
that you cannot be a successful politician unles:
a.) you have an amazing capacity to make concessions
b.) are willing to be molded by a political parties interests
c.) have no moral character, whatsoever.
i knocked up my girlfriend after 3 years of college and decided to make some real money. i put my feelers out there and came up with an application to become a casual longshoreman. i took it and the rest is history.
ps-i married the girl to make her honest. we are still married. there are secrets to a successful marriage, you know.

space and patience. (my wife gives me both)
really i think that the key ingredient is that both members need to give the other each of these when it is necessary.
too many people want imediate resolution, and sometimes it is both space and patience which helps the problems work themselves out.
i am not saying if you forget it then it will go away. what i am saying is that oft times providing time and distance between the situation and the moment which it is hammered out, provides a nice calming of tempers.
lets be honest, every relationship has problems. this is the best way to keep the problems from manifesting themselves.
there is more, but i gotta run now. my pregnant wife is hungry, and that is another example to make note of. feed the pregnant lady, NOW!

and i think that my record speaks for itself.
i wqill flame anybody who i think is way out of line. and i would hope that the same would happen to me, when i overstep common decency.
there are certain people who i have flamed without having a clue that they were vulnerable. but after it has been brought up (through pm, admin forum, my perception, wherever) i tend to back off. and there have been several instances where i have actually began a pm relationship with the person.
its just that i don't really feel that just because ascan is a loon, that i need to advertise each individual case of myself showing compassion. i don't really care about having a solid PR.
i feel, that right or wrong, what ever happens between myself and an individual, is private. i have had alot of success, and i will leave it at that.

to each their own really. i probably would have never gotten married if it hadn't been for the shotgun variety. i am a loner, and i always have been. this marriage stuff is alot of responsibility.

well i can say that i do not have ant STD's. i have not knocked up a ton of girls (my wife 3x, and a girlfriend once).
so i don't really see a problem with them following in my footsteps. the thing is that i really don't want to hear about it. but it would be hipocritical of me to state that they shouldn't have sex if they enjoy it. i am a hedonist. just because they are the fairer sex, doesn't mean they should be held to different standard.

i really think that i would have a difficult time eating the men (mental block and sexuality issues).
that being said let us assume that i was the most pursuasive and thereby the unchallenged leader of this rag tag team of misfits.
my first business would be to decide which female that i could coexist with the best, so that we could procreate, if necessary.
then i would decide on the literal pecking order. and i would base these decissioins based upon need, talent and willingness to contribute to a team effort. in doing so i would clearly pick the list of available candidates to become FOOD for thought.
i would let the female that was selected to be the continuation of society (island world), choose who they would like to eat. and that would be the first person chosen.
then secondly i would choose PMS Elle, since she cannot procreate (sorry), but she is so thin that i doubt she would go a very long ways (i said you were very thin, yes i did, and i mean it).
third choice would have to be hypnotica gaze, and i would assume that some clever planning would have to be in order to accomplish this, since most of the males would instantly come to her aid, and my balls would be on the line. so i would wear a coconut cup, to protect my family jewels.
the reason for hypnotica being th third choice is because she would hinder the procreation aspect of the community, by ruining so many testes, and she looks so edible.
see the way that i see it the procreation is important, because the babies could get along nicely for a long period just on mothers milk, and if the time came that they required more and we were still going hungry, then the unthinkable would come into play. and i would base my decision from that point with logic, and would definately run up against some difficulties trying to tear the toddler away from its mother. assuming that is that i can remain rational and the mother would maintain the maternal instincts and would rather die themselves.
but it wouldn't make sense to keep the child since it would certainly die of starvation before it reached the age of procreation abilities.
i hope i summed it up to your liking, or not.

yes it has and i would probably select a handful of males to contribute to this theory. and i also suspect that after having eaten pms elle and hypnotica, that i would warm to the idea of eating the males as well.

unfortunately, your master plan would've failed because i have been told that i am almost certainly infertile (unless there is some IVF equipment on this tropical island and one of the survivors knows how to use it). although, obviously, i wouldn't have admitted to that, in order to increase my personal chance of survival. when we failed to conceive, i would've subtly dropped hints that you were firing blanks. ?;D

first and foremost is my current obsession:
encouraging the AS/HFA community into getting off their arses and self advocating. creating a better future for the younger ones.
education, employment and social representation, are the main priorities.
the bottom line is that it is a selfish dream. and i want better representation for my daughter.
after that am i allowed to dream about the downfall of corporate america. ensuing anarchy and chaos. and once the dust has settled everyperson has begun at the same starting point, with the same odds of success. basically a tearing down of the social structure, as we know it to currently being.
finally, i would like every average schmo to have the opportunity to belong and toil in a workers paradise. where they recieve a fair portion of what they produce. in a nutshell, i would like to see a mighty return of stron labor unions, with altruistic leaders.

What lead up to your diagnosis?

i was advised during parent teacher conferences to research PDD-NOS, for my daughter and as i began to analyze the facts the whole AS/HFA criteria was like a huge mind fuck.
it seemed like my entire life finally had answers.? As a child 30 years ago i was diagnosed as being hyperactive and was put on coffee first, then dexadrine and finally ritalin.? my daughter definately has hyperactivity as well.? but did you know that in order to get a prescription for hyperactivity that you have to go to a professional shrink??
so we took her to a shrink and i was the one to do it (due to reservations about medicating my child). i was interested in analyzing the analyst.? to see if he was nothing more than a glorified drug pusher.? i found that i believed he was.
however, after visiting several doctors who all advised the same thing, we gave in and decided to give her the medication on weekdays during the school year only.?
finally i began to ask the doctor questions about Asperger's during these sessions and he admitted not being well versed on the subject but gave us a referral.? the referral diagnosed my daughter and i also set up an appt.? with a different referral, which specialized in adults.
there you have the entire sordid details.
that's why i am here, to ensure that advocasy happens.? dispite others opinions, i do know my limitations.? and i am sticking around to give several talented, capable people a kick in the ass, to ensure the movement.

Do you know what? I don't think I could answer that question either-the love I have for my kids is a depth that I wouldn't have believed possible till I had them. And its often such little things, that if you tried to explain to others would seem insignificant, that cause me the most happiness.

in the beginning, and it was only natural, that people weren't sure how to act. especially coming from boards with strict codes of condict. members were, i felt, looking to me for guidance. and that was frustrating me, since i just wanted people to have the opportunity to be themselves. i didn't want clones of myself.

I agree in some ways it does relate to me too- but in real life situations what forces me to blow it more than anything is the fact that I just don't understand people and I am constantly confused when they don't react in a way that I would expect going by their past behaviour. It doesn't help that I have a mischievous streak or that I can be incredibly stubborn.

Well we've both made it past the 'significant' 27 years. I find I don't even understand myself and find myself trying on roles to see if they fit- just so that I can try find somewhere I belong in this life. first of all, i don't really think its moral for us to write your ethics paper ;).
i think so. where else do they come from. right or wrong could be argued that they were laws passed down from generation to generation and having been reaised under certain laws dictated the moral code that the people within that society adhered to.
but still, where did it come from?
i think that we have a conscience. some little angel on our shoulder, reminding us what we have been taught and advising against inappropriate behavior when we begin to idealize acting on such behavior. i think its that little angel that wouyld tell us, whether we were taught the difference between right from wrong or not, that what we are thinking about doing is not reasonable behavior.
i could understand that maybe people with AS would need a set of written ruled, engraved in stone. but i suggest that we don't because we all share common principles. these are societies morals that have been passed down from gen to gen and reaffirmed in a consistent manner , through action, since we were born. whether through old sayings, reminders from parents with discipline for breaking the rules, seeing people get arrested, and so on.
how about this: alot of people around here curse. now is cursing morrally wrong? the ten commandments tell us not to use the lords name in vain, and i think that would be the closest example of a written rule. but nobody is going to be arrested for dropping an F-Bomb.
what about children, does it make it more wrong for a parent to curse infront of their children then say one of their contemporaries? i'd say no, cursing is probably an individual moral choice, rather than societies standards , which are law.
finally, i mentioned the ten commandments earlier. well, if you dont believe in god or follow the teachings of the bible, you should still clearly see that the ten commandments make alot of sense, right? well if they do and god doesn't exist, then you have to believe in a basic moral principle inside at least some of the people. because whoever wrote the bible, didn't just pull the ten commandments out of their ass.
either way you slice it, i think a good example of morals and the lack of rules or a social structure was pretty well written about in the lord of the flies.

Honestly, I'm a little offended by that, if you really think that's why I posted this question so many times. I would never do something that (ha-ha) immoral, as far as academic stuff. I just think it's fascinating as hell. I don't like getting into debates where people tend to get hot-headed (politics, religion) but this is neutral enough that I can have discussions and disagree without feeling like I've pissed someone off, for the most part.

This is a tricky one and something I've not really given much thought to before so my answer might be a bit half-arsed :D I actually believe that the survival instinct and the instinct to protect our offspring could actually lead to a very different 'moral code' developing. I believe that unless we're taught that its wrong to steal,kill, etc people would use whatever means necessary to ensure their family had the best chance of survival.

i think that people would do this regardless of having been taught or not. and the survival instincts and protecting your offspring is correct moral behavior, at any price. remember, your not going out to steal or kill on purpose, you are doing it because it has become necessary.
i was watching this special on North Korea and i guess they have it so bad there, that most of the population can barely eat. they don't have traditional food like you would see in one of your local market.
this next part is gross:
in their local market they sell human parts for food.
and it was inferred that it is an entire industry, where they kill people and cut them up like they would a cow, and sell it at the market, and people buy it and eat it.

Yep, I'm with you there, on new age parenting that's scared to influct the slightest unpleasantness or lack of safety on the child. I see a strong correlation between that and whiny obsessive-compulsive emo kids.
My parents used restraint and prohibition, and I know I would have hugely preferred a spanking to being forbidden to use the computer for a week. As far as I can tell, the main difference in me from having been raised by restraint instead of physical punishment is that I'm a self-control fanatic but a total wuss about physical pain (never got inured to it). So I wouldn't feel too bad about spanking if I were you. What makes a far greater difference than the type of mild punishment, I think, is what behaviors are punished. And yes, I accidently snapped it but not in half. The cash machine kept beeping and said "card error" or some crap like that...the little helpful Asian lady then came over and said "is it OK?". You are describing overstimulation. Endorphins are secreted in response to socialization. If there is a problem with endorphin metabolism, people would shy away from others. I have seen read stuff where the level of endorphins in AS is too high. More is not good, so naturally, they shy away from social situations. That would put the endorphin receptors in the brain in danger of being overstimulated. The receptors could just shut down or enzymes, called endorphanses, break down the endorphins when the brain is done with them. If this system is in danger of being overstimulated the indivual may shy away from social situations.
My experience is if you keep attacking the overstimulation with relaxation exercises it stops. The overstimulation drops the mood, and if you fight it, the overstimulation vanishes. It does for me anyway. Controll makes all the difference in the world. What I am saying is I feal very bad for you. I am very sensitive, and my emotions are very strong. Some of your humour is quite abstract, and that is impressive. The others are good, but some really standout. That means you are smart. You are a nice person too.

also, i think it is important to note that sex for a man, by and large, does not carry with it the same burden of responsibility that it does for women. getting pregnant is not as big a concern for a man as it is for the women. therefore women are generally more careful about sex.
plus, sex for a man is simply about cumming. it seems (i said seems) that for a woman there is alot more emotion involved. and foreplay is generally necessary to make a woman have a great time, but a man simply needs to cum, which isn't difficult (except for peter). therefore i conclude that men are generally selfish lovers and most really don't know how to handle anything other than the in and out motion.

basically i always try my best to make spats or misunderstandings come full circle, ending in forgiveness. i am a sucker for giving people repetitive chances. because i feel that i am not a perfect human being, and that my sins are probably not any worse than the ones that forced me into the judgmental position in the first place. so i tend to think that i would like forgiveness, so i give it.
i cannot think of a single instance that has happened in my life that i would not forgive someone. forgewtting is a different matter. if it is something that i just cannot (for one reason or another) shake from my thoughts, then i havwe no problem distancing myself from the individual.
in total, i would say that i tend to rely on instinct. i try not to let things get inside my head, because then they are controlling me.

there is no text book that can teach you how to parent. i feel that it is important to pay attention and brainwash your kids (but not with guilt). lets face it, everything in life is a brainwash in one form or another. we are all conditioned to certain behaviours. so i am choosing to proctively brainwash my kids to have their own minds. so i will get the disrespectful teenagers, for sure. but i will be proud of them for being like that. since, this is their time of life when they self wean themselves and forge their own identities. they will one day have to face the real world and i hope that they are strong enough to face it head on. not be a mindless, conditioned drone of all things that I forced down their throat.

typically, it seems that the black man has very little confidence in himself. and they have fractured egos which stem from the days of slavery. in my observations of humans, i have concluded that the black man (by and large) have the least respect for women. they seem to not have the confidence, or love for themselves, needed to be in a loving two way relationship. teenage pregancy is a problem for all of the races, but seems to be a particular problem in the black community.
now, i do realize that there are fine black men, however i just do not feel that the odds are in their favor if they fall in love with a black man. generally due to confidence in themselves. and their inability to stop using everything else as their excuses for their behaviours and failures.
if it was a white man i would feel confident that i could counsel him. any other colored man for that matter. but, i would fear that a blackman, no matter my reasoning, would reduce my efforts down to racism. i am tired of it, but it seems like the basic reasoning from the black community is that everybody is racist, and out to get them.
i particularily would not want my grandchild instilled with these values.
we can look at neuroman as a prime example of these values. he is a brilliant man, however he is still dogged by racism (or percieved racism). it exists, yes, but, it seems like black people go out and look for it. he has been held back in his life (in my opinion) not because he is black, but because he uses blackness as an excuse.
sorry, i can elaborate more, but i would need more tough questions regarding this. however, my communication skills require the communication to be drawn out of me.

you don't have to sleep together. I get up afterwards, and kip on the couch cos I snore, and my sleep patterns are fucked up an all. ;)

i sleep from about 11pm to 2 or 3 am. post. then take a quick nap before leaving for work at 5:55 am. if i work the first four i tak a nap at about 1 or 2 pm and one later, while watching cartoons with the kids.
