I think that this may just be a 12 year old boy thing.  My youngest brother was the same way until he started noticing girls.   :laugh:

My brother just fought having to take a bath in the first place and once he was in there, he would not really bathe himself or shampoo his hair.  My other brother did not have these problems and neither did I.  When my youngest brother started noticing girls, he bathed every day with no problems.

Does your son know how to do everything himself and just does not want to or does he actually need your help because he can't? 

Maybe he could try a bath puff where he could lather it up at the beginning of his shower and then use it.

My kids sort of can, but the main problems they have with this simple job are concerning work ethic. One token wipe at a leg should do it, right? Then on the the other leg. Those puffs are quite a help, along with gel. Be sure to put some of the gel in your own eyes to see how strong it is, before you decide it's OK for the kids, because the prospect of not wanting a shower, because the soap hurts, is a battle that is even more difficult to win.

We use baby wash which is supposed to be "No More Tears" with the puff.  My daughter sounds kind of like your kids in the bath, DirtDawg, but a little like my youngest brother sometimes as well.  I offer her the choice of a bath or a shower, which helps a little, because for some reason she likes using the shower in the master bathroom.

I forgot to say that she really still needs help washing her hair, but she does not want help.  I try to help every second day and let her do it alone the odd days.  We had some foaming shampoo, which helped her do a better job by herself, but I can't find any more of it.

My daughter's scalp is one of her "never ever touch me there" areas, so hair washing is always a nightmare. Fortunately she doesn't have oily hair, which may requiire more frequent care. She loves the fruity Granier Fructis products also. Her hair is very fine, yet extremely dense and curly.
