I'm going with some Johnny Cash right now.

I loved that old man.

Black Tape for a Blue Girl - Knock Three Times
A lot of people don't get John. I'm sorry to admit that I have less than half of his work in my collection.
I had the privilege of working with him on two occasions and seeing him one more time at one of the many celebrity fund raisers I worked for MDA.  I always gave the people I worked with nicknames, partly to show that I was not "star struck"  by their presence and that I was as much a professional as they were, but mainly it was my way setting myself apart from all the people sucking up to them. I called him "JC" once and he stopped in his tracks, turned to me head on, his face cracked a little with a crooked smirk and said, in a scratchy whisper, "Son (he called everyone, Son), I can't let you call me that. Those initials are reserved for someone we could not keep step with. You can call me John."

In his last years he recorded a few interpretations of modern music, including some from Kurt Cobain, Nine Inch Nails, Rolling Stones, JJ Cale, Eric Clapton and revived some old songs from Buddy Holly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison.

Bono, of U2 is credited for the tribute line in reference to Cash:

"He was more than wise. In a garden full of weeds - the oak tree."

I had planned to relate a couple more stories, but I can't just now.

Soundtrack from the movie, "August Rush."

It's pretty good.

I'm probably going to obsess a bit over this movie.

I can't describe the depth of life's chords it has struck within me, which I try  hard to keep hidden.

Finding my son last year, discovering that he is also obsessed with music, but has little physical ability to express his talent, despite years of trying  (pretty much, exactly like me and my lack of ability - it's like learning something important in a language that you can fully understand but never speak), has made it more difficult to go on with him. I am dumbfounded, again. This stupid movie has given me small courage to find ways to be closer to him.

Hans Zimmer has created a fine piece of moving musical work, also. Once I heard the soundtrack, I bought the movie. I can't recommend it though, unless you generally enjoy the projects with which Robin Williams involves himself.

I do too, but to be touched so privately is disturbing, at first.

Lemonade action from lemon feelings (if possible), I hope to attempt. I will likely gain from his work and the work of the movie makers.

Johnny Cash was ace. I have the last album he made on this earth. It's a beautiful thing. And yours is a beautiful story that adds another star to his skyscape..

Don't take this wrong dawg, but I swear to the god i no longer believe in that if you don't AT LEAST write down these stories from the road--so they're preserved in some archival form--before you die, I will personally come up there to Heaven and dog your heels until you do.  same applies to the other places: H-ll, Valhalla, the Over-the-Clouds place, etc.
