Twitter Twitter. Coming from someone who listens to Phil Collins I consider your judgment in such matters a little dodgy. :P

:LMAO:

nearly as bad as dire straits, i reckon.

and the smiths aren't emo, ffs - they're one of the best "cheer-up" bands going.  always make me laugh.

I would like to know when Giving Up/conceding to defeat became the norm?

These things go in cycles.

Really?
I thought it was a modern day expression of the comfort with which we live our unchallenged lives. I think that if we had conserved some of the danger of living a bit more, we would have people still trying their best, instead of giving up at the first bump they encounter in their lives.

 :headslap:

And this can't be cyclic, why?
I'm just looking at historical declines,
and the fact that this kind of fatalism is
often indicative of such. Indeed, this is
pretty much what I meant by The Who's
emoness. Quadraphenia strikes me as just
such a defeatism. Other things as well. Sure,
it's angry, but it's there.

Maybe it IS cyclic and we just happen to be riding the highest peak in history. I hope, when I'm a little older, I will understand these things.

The bigger the fall,
the greater effect there
is. But, some societies have
had mass suicides. I don't think
this is as good as it can get.

Yeah, Lou's cool, especially from his traditional blues era.

I actually listen to a lot of bootleg material, some of which is unique to my own collection, because I recorded it myself, directly off the board I used.

Today has been unsettling in many ways. I am going with Alice Coltrane,  Universal Consciousness,  Eternity  and also Translinear Light.

It's eastern. It's jazzy. It's great to meditate. I can't do any, right now, but I can listen.
