I need some "I defy you, stars!" Christmas music. Like Trans-Siberian Orchestra but without the maudlin. Anyone have any suggestions?

Hell! Killed an entire thread, didn't you?

  'at'll learn ya!

I was actually looking for this thread to post my miserable earworm note for all to laugh at.

Love Hendrix! Still listen to him almost every day.
Lately I have been in more of a jazz mode, exploring again all the super electric Miles Davis I can find.

Listening to lots of Hans Zimmer these days.

Miles Davis? I take my hat off for the dude any time (chapeau) but I tend to love the music he (they/musicians around him) made around 1960. The album 'Kind of Blue' is a true true masterpiece, in my opinion. Pianist Bill Evans is brilliant on that album. All of them/it.

Um, not in the mood for Miles at the moment.. Iz going for the Silversun Pickups now..

Moods and preferred music to enter ears?

I totally agree with your take on the "Kind of Blue" album. Only rarely has such a masterpiece been created. While the early sixties and late fifties seemed to be a turning point, with his band changing every few weeks, his exploration was in high gear.
Jumping forward into the Woodstock era, he lost most of his fan base and even his band members, when he went totally electric. BUT, it was through him exploring those murky waters that brought him a whole new generation of dedicated fans. Then another generation of fans finds out that he has been doing this since the forties and still going only increased the "mystery" of his journey.

I had blinders on when it came to jazz during the early seventies, but as I entered the nineties, I was wanting to catch up, especially with all the electric noise he made at Fillmore and various places over Europe.

I have been a fan of QOTSA for a good while and I think this posting you just made might one of their better efforts. I can tell you that it fucking rocks when cranked up. Much better recording than we usually have from this bunch.

For me it is the Dr. John albums I just bought.

Not really my cup of tea but I remember the album 'Tutu' back in '86 or '87. Me and a mate playing chess, smoking cigars and ja, listening to this album.

Those days I actually played chess on a fairly decent level. Not so much nowadays.. haven't played the game for many years.
