the boy fainted at camp today. He's recovered fine enough but it scared the beejebus out of him when it happened. he cut his hand in the creek and apparently seeing the anitiseptic bubbling up in his cut caused him to drop. Poor monkey.

Some people are very susceptible to gory sights!  My mother, as a young nurse,
had a couple of soldiers faint on her at the sight of needles.   to your son.

Also, some people have a physiological response to bleeding that causes their blood pressure to drop so they won't bleed to death, even if it's a minor cut or even a tiny puncture for a blood draw, which can also lead to fainting.

Fascinating!  That sounds like an adaptation gone wrong!   :nerd!:

My quick bitch is that it's time to find the chronic bitch thread.

tablet order is delayed because they have to verify my order details?
what, they can't read?

tempted to cancel and wait for Amazon to announce the new products on 9/6. i wanted the tablet because i have much waiting to do in the next couple of weeks (medical stuff). going to have to take the netbook now, which is a big pain, not to mention heavy by comparison.

the delay was the wrong billing address (my bank's fault). But it took them two days to contact me and now they are saying they don't have enough of them in the warehouse so they are shipping it from a store. The stores have a month long wait for the product to get on the shelves.

Fart, they (Douwe Egberts) don't make the 'Black' variant coffee any more. What should I pick now?

With all that is wrong with the world, my complaint is that I have a fever blister from the stress of the past week.  I'll simply let it heal itself since it's more of an aggravation.

Rats. I missed an invitation to a conference, after all. The gold sponsor wanted the last remaining spot.

I've heard of the Boxer Rebellion and the Whiskey Rebellion, but they weren't math.

In descriptive statistics, a box plot or boxplot (also known as a box-and-whisker diagram or plot) is a convenient way of graphically depicting groups of numerical data through their five-number summaries: the smallest observation (sample minimum), lower quartile (Q1), median (Q2), upper quartile (Q3), and largest observation (sample maximum). A boxplot may also indicate which observations, if any, might be considered outliers.

Boxplots display differences between populations without making any assumptions of the underlying statistical distribution: they are non-parametric. The spacings between the different parts of the box help indicate the degree of dispersion (spread) and skewness in the data, and identify outliers. Boxplots can be drawn either horizontally or vertically.

There, it's as clear as mud.
