I ate a kind of pita bread-thing with Swedish meatballs, cucumbers, beets, purple cabbage, amazing sauce and rice inside.

It was fabulous!

I've never heard of such a combination, but it's so outlandish, it's genius!

It came from a Swedish/American restaurant.  I think that Pita bread, in one form or another,  is a standard from almost all early peoples' diet (before they had a life that could include ways to leaven and allow bread to rise. being on the run from viscious predators would prevent allowing bread to rise, I think), being Swedish, I assume it would be obvious that they would only be able to eat of hardy vegetables, such as cabbage or beets, during winter.  I suspect that the rice is a modern bastardization of such things as boiled barley or steamed wheat grains to eat.

I do not really want to over-analize, however. It was wonderful and it is sitting well in my system, right now.

If I am ever in a Swedish restaurant, I will be sure to try one.

Cabbage was eaten very much in Sweden before we had potatoes here.

Swedish meatballs are great.  8)

But the rice is indeed a bastardisation.

Recess Peanut butter puffs cereal mmmmm. I-LOVE-MAPS had some too.
We went up to the free sandwich and free soup thing they have every thurdsay at the church.
Everyone from the tard hut goes their. I had some soup and cookies than I ate so many sandwiches it wasn't even funny. I hope they did't notice. I was so hungry I haven't been eating enough lately. No one else was eating the
cucumber ones so I ate them all up.

I made it home a bit early today, due to it being a "truck delivery night,"  in which I do not have to participate, being a "leader" and all.

I split some chicken breasts and stuffed them with sunflower seed kernels, onions and apples, then tied them with "chef's string,"  put them into the oven and baked them, while I slammed together some counter-top rolls (my mom taught me when I was about ten).

I also made up some plain store-bought noodles, buttered them and added a bit of sage and parsley when they were ready, steamed some broccoli.

It made a fabulous meal and BOTH the kids ate it like crazy starving chimps.

My daughter is usually a picky eater and having her actually try something new is compliment enough, but to see her dig in - well I suppose she likes sunnies with her chicken or something.

That sounds absolutely spectacular.

Breakfast: Spinach, mushroom, and cheese omelet with peeled orange slices and orange juice.
Lunch: Plain doughnut. (No vegetarian choices during meeting today.)
Dinner: Free crackers and cheese at the Manager's Social of my hotel. Free is always good as long as it isn't an animal.

The omelet sounds delicious. Are you going to get a late snack though?
The lunch and dinner don't sound very filling.   :(

I like to eat late at night. I'd be at Dunkin' Donuts if I were in your situation!   :2thumbsup:

I wouldn't be able to maintain my new trim figure, which is holding in the mid-180s. Been 15 months since I officially, and permanently, broke the Mendoza line.
