10 minute ago I heard, through a slightly opened Velux roof window, a flock of geese heading South. Hu? At the end of August?

Think, the group's leader, after quite a bit of complaining by the others, decided, having experienced p/m a week of cold nights, enough is enough.. we're migrating southwards.

Not sure if that's their underlying motive to move though..

Here they move over our house for a couple of weeks already. They are a bit early, but when the weather gets cooler, we see them a lot. I heard once that they are very picky when it comes to temperature. So they are willing to fly quite some distances to sleep at a temperature they like, and fly back in the morning, to get their preferred grazing temperatures. Here they fly south in the evening, in the morning they fly north. Would not surprise me if you saw a flock heading north, tomorrow morning.
