I would so happily spend time with the cub so YOU could have a break. I adore little ones and as much as I love that mine are near grown, I still miss various things about them when they were pint sized. To me, that would be a break! Win win for both of us. lol

I actually took the whole post to be directed from you towards Hyke but I love kids. I couldn't help myself. Had to jump in. lol

But yes, the support and wisdom from the three of us put together would be valuable for so many reasons.

Went out to dinner last night with friends and one friend has a 10 year old son who definitely isn't the favourite amongst the family but I wouldn't be surprised if he was diagnosed as being ASD and I took to him immediately and he to me. It was the first time we had met but he picked up quite quickly that I understood him and so he stuck to me and I enjoyed that.

Funny, if my gran hadn't been very ill when my parents got married, I would have been a Canadian girl. So it would even have been possible.

But, yes. Would love it. There's the comfort of not having to explain part of the struggle. There's the relief of someone getting it. And someone happy to take over for a while.

And like Phoenix,  I'd love to take care of the cub so that you would have some time to recuperate without having to be on alert for the wee one.

I know I crave those moments. They've been way to rare here. Things are not going well. But even just two hours alone in a month makes a massive difference.
No matter what I do with that time, take a nap, blast my music, rummage through stuff to find something, whatever. The comfort of the certainty of no appeal to me and no need to hold back on sound or movement for a few hours in my own space is very wholesome.
Those few hours make me enjoy the great things of parenting after it more too.

Yeah, it's funny, I'm too old for the BS, but, old enough that the BS slides right by me.  I do my job and the BS slides right by me.  In this case, it's a former supervisor who wanted me out of my job because I wasn't fast enough or "productive" according the wallymart algorithms.  Yet she was shuffled out due to her instability and carelessness in how she handled staff.  She would spend more time with her husband in another division of the store than supervising.....yet, she wanted a higher salary and considered herself superior to everybody else.  Now upper mgmt. is scrambling to find her replacement.  So they are throwing stuff against the wall like pasta to see what sticks.  And I just sit there and laugh at the idiocy of it all.

Yep, she was someone I would classify as a "soul sucker".   But, I saw thru her facade early on.  Age and experience has given me that gift!
