Why aren't dark glasses acceptable in court? It seems like a silly rule.

Because the judge wants to look at your eyes to see if you are telling the truth.

There are several tell-tale movements of the eyes when processing certain types of information, which could give the judge a clue as to the witness' veracity.

I thought that when someone wore sunglasses for medical reasons, they were allowed, however.

Yes, that should be allowed, I wonder what they say to elderly witnesses who wear those wraparound sunglasses after treatment for cataracts (?).

Probably need a doctor's note.

On that basis I would reconsider my earlier ruling.

Now you'll never be able to pass a little old lady wearing those glasses without wondering if she's looking you over.

People that wear dark glasses are dodgy.  :zoinks:

Yes. Your point being...? ;D
Nothing, as usual.

That should be good news to millions of wearers of dark glasses the world over!  :coolguy:  :checkout:  8)

I'm very sensitive to light so I usually wear dark glasses. Then, of course, I *am* dodgy too. :zoinks:

But you'd have to have some kind of proof of the medical condition, I assume?!

I wear Irlen lenses and they are dark enough so that when I had my driver's licence photo taken, I had to take them off. Same for my uni ID. I wonder what would happen if I had to go to court. I can't see very well without my glasses and I don't have clear lenses.
