yeh i think so because her grandparents or great grandparents were irish. crazy shit.

*nods* Sounds familiar, at the time this girl was moving from here to Ireland, someone told me she would be eligible for citizenship because of her very recent Irish ancestry.

OT, I have long wished to move to England, have always felt drawn to it, but when I called the British embassy in New York back in 1990 to inquire, I was told I could only visit, not stay and work for any great length of time. I definitely want to visit Ripon one day; it's the former home of a great-great-grandmother.

Ripon is a nice English town.

* on a sentimental journey now. (not really, but Ripon is nice, that is true) *

Notice how I said "most", not "all".

 :zoinks:

Ya, just pointing out that, as usual, I am outside the "most" category.  :zoinks:

Which wasn't needed because you know yourself which category you belong in.

It's a shame that 90% of people (mostly American twats) claim to be Irish yet they're not.

Even though I'm born here, I'm not fully Irish myself. I have the accent at least.  :zoinks:

Irish are the niggers of Europe. :smarty: :moon:

One of my great-grandparents had the family name "Bailey," but I think it would be drawing a long bow to claim Irish ancestry on the basis of that.

Do you know where these Baileys came from?

My father's side of the family is supposedly 100% Irish.   I don't do anything at all to celebrate St. Patrick's usually.    My dad's family is Irish Catholic too haha.
:P   Internets are super serious.

I am a mongrel

I am of German and Scots ancestry with a healthy chunk of Irish thrown in and some English and a touch of Aboriginal.

I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Censoring/banning/restricting/moderating myself, Calanadale & Scrapheap were all not his finest moments.

Very cool! Reminds me of Russell Crowe, who is from New Zealand and has some Maori ancestry.

Like the phrase "healthy chunk of Irish"!

Ireland, Ireland!

By ‘The Duckworth Lewis Method’

Ireland, Ireland, damp sod of earth
lost on the surf of the North Atlantic.
Ireland, Ireland, mountains and mist,
Vodka and chips, it’s so romantic.

Joyce and Heaney, Beckett and Wilde,
Bill O’Herlihy, Dunphy and Giles,
Evans, Hewson, Mullen and Clayton,
Westlife and Jedward the pride of our nation!

Ireland, Ireland, once we were poor,
Then we were wealthy; now we are poor again.
Cows and horses, donkeys and sheep,
Munster and Leinster, Connacht and ******.

Chinese, Polish, Africans too,
Doing the jobs we don’t want to do.
An Irish stew, a nation of nations,
Working for peanuts in petrol stations.

Ireland, Ireland, you are the best
Place to the west of Wales and Scotland.
Sometimes it’s heaven, sometimes it’s hell,
But I’d rather be Irish than anything else.”

And I am.
