You can change your time under your profile option: under Look and layout preferences you can adjust the time offset so the board displays your local time.

Depends what the motivation is for a spammer.  I just plop in a comment that I think contributes....sometimes I raid threads, but I don't mean to...kind of like real life...go on about what I think is the relevant issue and get so focused I forget that others are thinking I'm a tosser.
