We had 2 mice living in our house for a while when the kids were still quite small.
One we nicknamed "Spidermouse". It used to climb the internal brick walls.
The other we nicknamed "Speedy Gonzales". It had darker fur and used to run very fast across the floor and into its next hiding spot. Usually with a crash. Most mice sneak around in the dark or stick to cover, this one didn't. It simply relied on speed.
My son used to leave food down the side of his chair for them.
So anyway, they had to go. So I started setting traps after the kids went to bed and checking them at 6 am and disposing of the little corpses before they woke up. I think I caught 3 actually, there might have been more than one Spidermouse. But there was only one Speedy.
My daughter decided that they must have got married and moved out to start their own family. Maybe after the kids have grown up I will tell them the real story. It would break their hearts if they knew I murdered our little mice.
