Have you seen anybody about it yet odeon? any idea whats wrong with your hip?

Pretty sure in my case its the change in gait that having a bad knee, and the loss of feeling resulting from the neuropathy the (failed) surgery I had that caused my hip to go. Its actually a fucking ton worse than my knee, and got that way really fast after the problem first reared its ugly head.

I'd see a doc as soon as possible about it, and be ready to see a specialist if needs be. I need to find out when my appointment with the pain management clinic is for. Don't leave it be and hope for the best, as in my experience at least, hip issues can worsen very quickly. No harm in taking OTC antiinflammatories and (although more or less worthless stuff IMO) paracetamol, the NSAIDs being likely of more use, but its safe to take paracetamol alongside either NSAIDs or aspirin. Just make sure to take antiinflammatories with food, unless you know there is a history/likelihood of gastric ulcers, in which case, avoid)

Hope you get it sorted and get some decent pain meds for it. I've had it up to the eyeteeth with docs that are stingy bastards here.

I had hip problems some years ago. I was able to get about 2000 tramadol capsules and a shot of cortison :orly:

Thanks for reminding me lit. I've been meaning to ask my doc to do a steroid shot into my hip. And knee if I can have both. If its one or the other though it would/will be my hip, as its by far the worst....although maybe not, seeing as how my hip issues likely come from my knee forcing a change in the way I walk and bear weight. I'd have to have a good talk with him and see what he thinks.

Tramadol is fucking nasty. It would take something like having my oxy stolen from me, and a choice between tramadol and nothing at all before I take that shit. SNRI, yuck. Lowers seizure threshold too, aside from being weak as piss.

I never went back to cleaning the bedroom. My bed has stuff on it and PA's gone to bed. Guess I'll sleep on the sofa tonight rather than disturb him.

One good thing about being short is that we can fit more easily on couches.

Quite often when I get on a ladder, step ladder or a fixed one/doesn't matter/same diff., my back starts to hurt. Always on the same spot (on back). Think my poor balancing skill has to do with it (in combo with my already weak spot there). Um, quick bitch is: my back frikkin' hurts again.. and I haven't even finished cleaning the roof gutters yet. Suppose to fix a plastic mesh (-work) after it in order to keep the leaves (and shite) out of said gutter this coming Autumn. Bummerz..

I think I might have a kidney stone :(

Have you had one before? And how soon can you see a doctor? :-\

No, but they do run in my family. My sister had her first one at 19. I have shooting pains that come and go in my left kidney. I don't have the time to see a Dr about it unless it incapacitates me at some point.

Not nice mate. They are an absolute bastard. :(
I2 today is not i2 of yesteryear. It is a knitting circle. Those that participate be they nice or asshats know their place and the price to be there. Odeon is the overlord

.Benevolent if you toe the line.

Think it is I2 of old? Even Odeon is not so delusional as to think otherwise. He may on occasionally pretend otherwise but his base is that knitting circle.

Why not?

My advice is NOT to put it off. Especially if there is a family history of kidney stones.

Don't forget, they grow, or certainly can do. And the smaller one is, the easier it is to treat. These days many can be destroyed without making any surgical incision using ultrasound pulses to smash them to bits small enough to be passed.

But the more you wait, the less viable you make that option. As for incapacitating, I have never had one myself...and don't want any either, but I have often seen it described in pretty horrific terms, such as being shot, breaking bones, hell, even being set on fire or flayed alive.

Ultrasound treatment basically zaps the buggers in situ, using high frequency sound waves, and causes them to break down to sand/small gravel.

Of course, nobody wants to piss out a builder's yard, but better that trying to piss something like this out:

http://www.lithostat.com/Kidney_Stone_Photos/Photo23-Staghorn-COM.aspx

And as I said, what starts as a small bit of insoluble crap, oxalates, calcium etc. provides a seed crystal for more such garbage to use as a nucleation site and thus grow larger. Stones have to be got at early for the quick and easy, nonsurgical option. IIRC 2cm is the cutoff point.

After that its surgery, although there are various kinds on procedure.
Ultrasound treatment apparently can often be done on an outpatient basis.

Why do you say you don't have time to see a dr about it? it doesn't make any logical sense, when all the alternatives mean much more time lost. Not to mention a whole load of absolute screaming agony.

Not sure about you, but when I read, on an otherwise sober and intended as factual site, such as wikipedia, about something being described as one of the most severe pains a human body is capable of feeling (the article on renal colic), that makes me want damn well never to have it happen to me.

Don't forget either, that kidney stones are capable of causing permanent damage to renal function in severe cases.

If you do find you have one or more stones, make sure to find out what kind they are, the chemical (and lets hope not, but i some cases, bacteriological contamination), as the mode of formation affects both treatment options and the maintenance medication that may or may not be needed to prevent a recurrence of the stone; a not all that unlikely prospect if you have a known familial tendency.

All the more so, if there is also a tendency towards developing gout, i which case, urate stones are very common.

And from what I read, if ignored until a kidney abscess develops, you would be rolling around on the floor screaming like a baby, and begging for directions to dignitas :/

Just get it checked out sooner rather than later.

Hope you and the nipper are doing ok miss K *hugs*
