They could not do the wheel alignment due to the fact I need new tie rods and ball joints 
Well it still drives so it's a project for spring when it's warm
Do you trust the mechanic who told you that?
A local mechanic told me that I needed new ball joints one time when I brought the car in for a front end alignment and he said that if he did the alignment it would be back out of alignment when I drove it out of his shop, so I took it back to my regular mechanic to do the work if it was needed. My regular mechanic told me that nothing was wrong with my ball joints and showed me why. He took the car to a different place to do the alignment and it was fine. I go to the second place all the time now if I need new tires or an alignment and I warn everyone who needs tires or an alignment about the first place and tell them about the second one.
