Riley, one of my guinea pigs, is ill. Was peeing blood and squeaking in pain during the process.

Took him to the vet for a scan and it turns out he has kidney stones. Got painkillers and an anti-inflammatory for him, told to come back in 2 weeks for another scan. If he doesn't pass the stones through, surgery is needed.

Already it's getting quite expensive, but don't want to give up on him. It's a common problem for older guinea pigs.

Just my luck, though!  :-\

Despite turning up at stupid AM this morning heaps of people still got turned away from the drive thru testing clinic. Can you imagine turning up there at 7am and still being there in the queue mid afternoon?? My brother has no hope of getting tested here so he can get back over the border. Dunno what I'm gonna do if I get symptoms, I'll probably just keep isolated and quietly fight it off.

He's doing okay, still eating/drinking and being himself for the most part. I went home early yesterday from visiting Emma's family to keep an eye on him.

Said new friend that I made... ended up being a trump supporting "libertarian".

Found this out after weeks of hanging out and general emotional investment. Had a debate with them, were I got really overloaded and just wanted to leave - they were that frustratingly stupid.

I'm generally fine with different opinions and such, but it was very unexpected and they clearly weren't very educated on any of it. Guess I'm not cut out for this friendship game.

So like, they were fine for a time and then they sprung their bullshit onto you? What a letdown.

Please don't write off possible future friendships, though. There are decent people out there.


I have to drive for two hours in the heat tomorrow. I have air con which is really good but it makes my car chew through the petrol.
