"Thank you," to the member who has me on her/his personal ignore button.  You've reinforced a lesson that I need to learn.  I'll gratefully return the favor, without anger or rancor.

Did we get the ignore button back?

No, that's why I put "personal"

Hey, Sky, it's just you and me on the forum.  Let's hijack the place before the youngsters know what hit them.

My roommate had a detached retina. They managed to reattach it but he' s going to spend the next few weeks in bed, moving as little as possible.
My ex had one while he was on a trip to California.  They used some sort of bubble to put his detached retina back into place and he had to lie on his side or at least keep his head sideways so it would be in the right position.  He also couldn't fly home and wound up spending weeks in California.
That is something I am scared about getting, a detached retina. That and macular degeneration. And glaucoma. And other eye stuff.

Of those three, I find the macular degeneration the most scary.

That's one of the reasons why I retired in 1999 at 1 week shy of my 50th birthday.  I'd had a cataract surgery.  Since I am so extremely near-sighted they also had to remove the other cataract (glasses would not fit properly with the heavy lens for the uncorrected eye.)  I was told that each year I had a 15 - 20% chance of detaching a retina because I am so near-sighted.  I didn't want to spend the rest of my vision looking at numbers.  Knock on wood, my eyes have been very good.  Although my eyesight continues to worsen slowly because of the eyeball lengthening I've had no detached retina or diabetes problems.  The main "problem" is the eyeball lenghtening and some floaters.

I agree with Hyke about macular degeneration being the most scary one, but I'm freaked by just about any eye-related problem.

FYI - Evidently occasionally when I've walked away from the computer and forgotten to log off of Intensity, the PR has accessed my account and sent a pm or two.  If you get any weird messages from the PR or Nellie, just play along with her.  She's just living in her own dream world, although where she gets the idea she's royalty, I don't know.   :dunno:
