I am a parent, but that doesn't mean I speak for all parents, just myself.
When my daughter's elementary school was going to show "the movie" they allowed parents to come in and watch it themselves first to evaluate whether it would be appropriate for their child, and I appreciated that opportunity. "The movie" only reiterated what I had already been teaching my daughter from a very early age, so I said it was OK for them to show the movie to her and for her teachers of either gender to answer any questions along those lines that she asked them, assuming the teachers were comfortable answering them themselves. If not, or if she asked the questions at home, of course I would answer them. I think they had my daughter's female paraprofessional watch the movie with my daughter away from the other children, who were also watching the movie segregated by gender. I think there were male and female versions of the movie which were slightly different from each other, as well.
I think my daughter's public school handled the whole situation very well. I think parents know their own children and what information they can handle better than anyone else and I wouldn't like well-meaning strangers to overload her with information.
