i am the exact opposite of a hoarder. in fact, I am constantly throwing away perfectly useful things. I am the least materialistic person in the world. Although, I do know that materialism isn't why people hoard. I just cannot stand clutter. I can't even stand 'decoration' . Everything gets thrown in the trash.Same. Was raised in a minimalist environment so it's more about comfort. Had to laugh at the comment on decoration. Sometimes people give decoration 'things' as gifts. They're often nice at first, then will one day look at it and think, really hate that 'thing' and toss it.
I would butt heads with my ex husband all the time, as he was a HORRIBLE hoarder. It was actually one of the main things we fought about. He thought the solution was to buy more storage containers. That is NOT the solution, lol .
managed to go through a medium sized bag of papers and also some clothes. Am deciding whether to cut the clothes up for rags or neatly unseam them. Hell with it, cut it is.
Hallway looks better than it has done in a long, long time.
Wanted to paint the walls too, but, there are not enough hours in a day, and not enough energy in a Hyke for that.
Time to get rid of the last bits and pieces that are now scattered through living room and kitchen. Girls will be home in a bit more than an hour. That should give me just enough time.
The coffee is good, btw.
And you, dear Weeble, how are you doing? You did not bump this thread just for fun, did you?

I bumped it to motivate myself! :cbc: I am doing many loads of laundry today!

And now to fold it, when it comes out of the dryer, and to pack it away immediately.
I somehow end up with this huge Mt. Foldmore most of the time. :facepalm2:
Ladies - I wish to inform you that i have been cleaning, clearing, dusting, sanding, polishing, buffing, tidying, uncluttering and washing! :headbang2:

Thanks Hyke and yeah i am using beeswax. It was all i could get without going into town. I wish i was using oil now. Oh well.
Yeah i find the spaceships really funny. My mum didn't, when she found one on her bathroom door
I cut up a pair of thong underpants. Along all the seams. It was a very nice pair, so I have some lovely enclose in satiny-type material elastic and some chiffon type material. The waistband is long enough to make a V-necklace which I can attach a decorative pin to and the leg elastic will be on my mind until I find a use for it. The chiffon I may make into a flower. All this is in the future. Clean and clear first.

I take it you are doing well? I will start cleaning after I reach 37,100 posts! :headbang2:

Washing machine is running, papers are sorted, sanitary stuff is soaking. Did some other small things. Time to finish it all off.

You've been inspirational.
I didn't remember this thread at all. I haven't been doing enough tossing and thrifting lately. Since I'll have to stay close to home for the next 2 or 3 weeks I hopefully will do a lot more of toss and thrift.

Have no fear. It didn't work.
Alas, I miss the soothing wobbling of the Weeble a lot.

I gave to Goodwill two old receivers, an old turntable, three sets of old speakers and an ugly old stereo component cabinet.
I have begun to set aside a stack of DVDs that I plan to donate as well, but I do not want to be slight with this effort. I only have about eighty. I want to get to over one hundred before I trouble them with my stash of old DVD trash.
Here I am! :cbc: About to watch House reruns and get rid of some more stuff!

I think 80 DVDs would make a sufficiently impressive offering! I barely own a dozen myself! :orly:

I tend to buy new films on Blu-ray rather than DVD, these days. If a 70mm print isn't available, of course. :P

This weekend going to re-done my resume and update it. I am going to tidy my house and get out of the home
Are you backing that stuff up?
Are you backing that stuff up?
Are you backing that stuff up?
From Life in the Military - Reader's Digest (a long time ago, the 1960's maybe)
A soldier asked to dispose of tons of old records. He was given the okay with the provision that he made copies first.
Put it on another data storage device, so there are two digital copies if one is damaged or corrupted. Another memory card is fine, or a thumb drive, external hard drive; anything will do.Are you backing that stuff up?
I should. How does one back up a memory card? :dunce:
But my hoard of old holiday cardsWas assuming the opposite. If so, then maybe back up digital copy isn't that important.
isn't that important to me,
I used to sort of collect certain things. I don't anymore. I don't shop recreationally,
I don't have any hobbies requiring large amounts of stuff, I don't collect, I don't decorate.
I think I'm not a really bad hoarder, I just needed "permission" to get rid of things passively acquired. :orly:

I do not know how to respond to that.
:zoinks:
Actually, I collect musical instruments (I have many) and professional sound gear (I have half a garage full), but I am not sure that I have ever acquired anything passively. I am generally "on the hunt," so to speak.
The other half of my garage is full of woodworking, gardening and mechanical tools along with a few bicycles that I ride upon occasion. My garage is useless as a garage; it is a work place and a storage place, since much of what I do for my own entertainment happens outside the garage.
... BUT, the real question: "permission?" I do not understand to what this makes reference. You had to have "permission ..." to get rid of things?
Please, make sense of this for me.
You are allowed to delete most of those digitally saved messages too.
Only keep the really special ones. The ones that will have you looking at them now and then, just because they are so good. Make it a digital treasure chest.
All the others can go. They will only make it hard to find the ones worth saving.

I'm already thinking ahead to how I want my digital hoards and online contacts handled after I die.
I'll have no children to inherit the stuff, and so unless I have a sibling still alive, I'll have to appoint an
executor to ... I dunno. Delete my memory cards? E-mail the sites I post on, to tell them of my demise? :apondering:
You'd better live forever.

Six years together on Intensity :cbc: (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/71/The_New_Adventures_of_Queen_Victoria_comic.jpg) and still going strong!
Together, we shall be ever amused! Here's to the next six years!
Almost our 7th Intensiversary! Let's post up a storm! :hamsterwheel:
Happy Anniversary.
We had what I call "junk out the front" week where people's junk gets put out at the side of the road for collection. It happens in February every year.
This year I put out Kayleigh's old rat cage that was rusting and so therefore no longer suitable for rats. I also put out an old computer chair whose seat was gradually crumbling. Even the cats wouldn't sleep on it. Kayleigh wanted to keep the wheels as there was nothing wrong with them. But I refused and took it out to the kerb before we could argue further. When I got up the next morning I saw that someone had taken the wheels off the chair. :D
Nah, Kayleigh wouldn't make the effort to go out the front with a screwdriver to take the wheels.
Donated three big binliners filled with clothes, domestic stuff and old games. Got rid of some waste paper. Am making progress in my plan to fill the rubbish rolling bin to the max in two weeks. And my green bin is full with mainly garden waste.
Looks like the Easter spirit got hold of me. I don't mind.
