Do you think parents should be able to pull their kids out of sex education classes in schools? If yes/no, does that apply to kids of all ages?
For very young kids, I am not 100% sure. For teenagers, it should be up to them themselves if they want to take part, not their parents.
Obviously I am not a parent though, but that is my opinion

I am a parent, but that doesn't mean I speak for all parents, just myself.
When my daughter's elementary school was going to show "the movie" they allowed parents to come in and watch it themselves first to evaluate whether it would be appropriate for their child, and I appreciated that opportunity. "The movie" only reiterated what I had already been teaching my daughter from a very early age, so I said it was OK for them to show the movie to her and for her teachers of either gender to answer any questions along those lines that she asked them, assuming the teachers were comfortable answering them themselves. If not, or if she asked the questions at home, of course I would answer them. I think they had my daughter's female paraprofessional watch the movie with my daughter away from the other children, who were also watching the movie segregated by gender. I think there were male and female versions of the movie which were slightly different from each other, as well.
I think my daughter's public school handled the whole situation very well. I think parents know their own children and what information they can handle better than anyone else and I wouldn't like well-meaning strangers to overload her with information.

When sex-education is done right, there will be less teenage pregnancies, less situations of "forced" sex. More fun when kids do decide to have sex.
I think kids should be getting proper sexual education. Especially those kids who don't get informed at home for various reasons.

I think it's definitely wromg for parents of teenage kids to stop them going to these classes.

Teenage? We went to those classes when I was 9 years old! :o
-
Well, I think it depends on the teenager and how the class is taught.
I don't know whether it would be a good idea to hand out condoms to 14 year olds in school, but I think some 15 or 16 year olds could use a week with a Baby Think it Over doll (http://www.solutions-site.org/kids/stories/KScat3_sol72.htm).

My daughter had a day or so of instruction about it when she was in elementary school as well, but I think the school district offers more instruction in high school.

Many 14 and even 13&12 year olds are already sexually active. If they're fucking, they need condoms!

Have to agree with Scrap here. Average age of youngsters starting with sex has dropped a lot over the past 20 years.
The better kids are educated, the higher the average of the starting age. And, the more contraceptives are being used.

Hell, this was when I was in school 30 years ago. Of course it may help to point out that this was in Nebraska. ;)
Actually if you look at it, I think the stats are going the other way. 200 years ago, most 15 year old girls were already married with 1 kid.

Have read that's a misconception.

Misconeption? isn't that when you pull out before you blow a load?? :zoinks:

When you say 'you' do you mean me, or do you mean you? Of course, when I say you, I mean you.
Could have said it was a fallacy, but that one would be open for jokes too. lol

that seems fine with me then. Teenagers are old enough to answer questions like that if they want to
