Just got banned last night, and they seem to have locked me out of my own account so I can't even change my sig to let people know I was banned, bastards. I'm fighting it, I managed to unearth some personal phone numbers for Alex, and am going to try to have a chat with him in the next few days about whats' being done in his name on his board, that should be interesting.
In the meantime, I'm Dox, you're new resident gun guy (2 year degree in gunsmithing, walk in gunsafe in living room...), cigar and Scotch snob, and militant libertarian. From the amount of vitriol I see being slung around here, I should fit in just fine. :thumbup:

Why? Aren't there enough .30 supermags out there already? If I want to step up from a .308/30-06 I'll jump directly to a .338 Lapua or a .375RUM, more knockdown and less barrel erosion from the flame cutting.
What is your opinion of Scotch from Isle of Islay??
If I had to pick a favorite, I'd have to go with the Laphroiag 15 year 1/4 Cask, although the Ardbeg special release 16 year is pretty dang good. If I'm not drinking an Islay, It's probably a Talisker or a Highland Park in my glass, though I do dabble in the Highlands and the vatted malts occasionally.

Basically, my feelings about WP are that the assholes don't get to win, and slinking off into the night is really not my style. Yes, in the long run it may be a waste of my time, but abusers of authority NEED to feel consequences in one form or another. I have a sort of progressive plan for WP, starting with some telephone calls in the next few days, ramping up to some web authoring and circulating a petition to various sites that link to WP as a "support" sight for people with AS, I know I could get plenty of signers and if some of the higher profile sites started dumping him, Alex will be forced to pay attention. I'm still working on it, but I've got some time at the moment, and if I can cause those tinpot tyrants a little intestinal discomfort then it will have been worth it to me.
I feel the allure of the more "direct" route, and I've notice that there are not one but two threads here calling for the demise of two of WP's more offensive mods, so I can tell that I'm far from alone in that feeling, and frankly I wouldn't shed any tears if someone where to start knocking off WP mods, but I don't view that as anything more than a pleasant daydream.
Now if someone was to hack WP and delete their accounts and/or give them a taste of what being on the receiving end of misused authority is like, I'd definitely be down. :thumbup:

I think you misread that. I'm talking about a .308 Win necked up to shoot .416 bullets. I've been thinking about getting a Savage 99 in .308 and having it re-barreled. Should make a good brush gun that can take down bown bear.

Oooh, that would make far more sense... I seem to recall having seen something similar done with some of the late model Winchester lever guns being chambered in a blown out round called the .358 Alaskan. I've seen a shorty lever gun chambered in 45-70, might be a less expensive option than buying custom dies and having a re-barreling job done, Savage 99's have the hardest receiver in the gun world, so you're usually going to see a surcharge for working on them. With the 45-70 in an 16 inch carbine, you don't need to mess around with the Savages spool mag since we're talking a round nose bullet that will work fine out of a tube mag in the first place, I'm trying to think who makes what I'm thinking about, I keep seeing them in stainless in the used rack at my local pawn.

AFF on the other hand is fun to fight with, Gareth is a lot like Alex except that he at least tries to make a decent argument, he fails miserably, which is fun to call him out on, but at least he tries to fight back somewhat (although he would also make a thread about it like Alex would).

I honestly don't see such a big deal about WP. For some people, that's their style. Alex doesn't even post much over there anymore. When i first joined, I was still flyin in under the radar. I came in as a parent and didn't out myself until I had been there for a few years. At the time, the parenting section was awesome.
I still say, different strokes for different folks. If that's their style and it works for them, leave them be.

I'm on WP under my own account, the mods I had real problems with are toast, and my home PPR forum is allowed the wide leeway I always demanded of the old mods. Anyone here ever draw a warning from Sins for saying something like "only a fool would believe that" because she decided that was a personal attack that day? That doesn't happen anymore. Not that you'd know about that sort of thing MLA, you weren't around in those days.

I'm on WP under my own account, the mods I had real problems with are toast, and my home PPR forum is allowed the wide leeway I always demanded of the old mods. Plenty of times, and fucking Quaterfag or MarketyMark banned me for saying 'and we all know what a pervert Raggy is' which was stating fact given the shit he wrote in the adult forum. My partner got the shaft from Lau for suggesting that 'if you wanted support you'd be better with a truss' saying that WP wasn\t treating the membership with the respect they deserved. She also wanted the Childrens' forum moved away from the adult area so that the kids wouldn't come into contact with the adult stuff, and perverts like Ragtime wouldn't trawl for kids. Lau said rudely 'would you like to run the place?'

Believe it or not, I got my account restored by making menacing comments about the then mod team here on I2. I said something along the lines of that shooting them wasn't creative enough, they need to be force fed copies of the TOS or something to that effect, and got an email out of the blue from one of them. She was actually afraid of me, and indignant that I would want harm to come to her because of how she'd handled things on WP. I explained to her that I was just making a morbid joke at her expense because I was angry and felt wronged, and laid out why I felt that way. Went back and forth with some more emails, started a sock-puppet account there during the mod lock out when Sins was finally vanquished, and eventually negotiated the return of my original account. You might ask Kit as well, she was actually the first person to come back from a ban, I was the second.
If you're serious about it, talk to Moog, I believe he got Fnord his account back, and Sins had banned him years ago for some bullshit he said to her in a PM.

OK here is my two cents.
I know over there that Dox was a very active poster on PPR subforum which tended to be a bit more feisty and loosely moderated that the rest of the site. I know that he was a lot more in your face than a lot of the posters at WP. He has said as much and I don't believe anything less.
I know he was banned. I know that QM, Lau and Sins were oxygen thieves.
I know that after the sweeping of old mods that there were a few people allowed back on with sockpuppet accounts and some with their acccounts.
Would it make sense that a person who had contributed to PPR forum like Dox had and perhaps had been banned under questionable reasons, been given an account back? Is it possible that someone seen as heavily involved in that subforum been sought out as a man on the ground in finding out what was going on there at any stage?

Is it possible that with this vaulted position and his very clear views on Parakeet's treatment that he, in exactly the same quest for helping smoothly run PPR, and with this dislikes of the treat Parakeet was getting back then, seek to address the same by informing the Mods with information learned here in confidence, to expose the I2 members there?
Yes. It doesn't mean that this was the case though.
MLA had access to far more of WP than I so I don't know whether what MLA has seen is just logical follow through or whether it is concrete hand in the cookie jar stuff.
It is hard to prove a negative either way.
It looks bad for Dox certainly. Still strong suspicion is one thing and condemnation and absolute assured conviction are two things.

Really, I don't give a shit about going there or not, but when people post links to stuff and talk about 'this happened at WP', then i guess I'd like to join in for the lulz.
Believe it or not, I got my account restored by making menacing comments about the then mod team here on I2. I said something along the lines of that shooting them wasn't creative enough, they need to be force fed copies of the TOS or something to that effect, and got an email out of the blue from one of them. She was actually afraid of me, and indignant that I would want harm to come to her because of how she'd handled things on WP. I explained to her that I was just making a morbid joke at her expense because I was angry and felt wronged, and laid out why I felt that way. Went back and forth with some more emails, started a sock-puppet account there during the mod lock out when Sins was finally vanquished, and eventually negotiated the return of my original account. You might ask Kit as well, she was actually the first person to come back from a ban, I was the second.
If you're serious about it, talk to Moog, I believe he got Fnord his account back, and Sins had banned him years ago for some bullshit he said to her in a PM.
After I got banned under my TCO account back in '07 or '08, I went ballistic slagging QM, MM, Sins and Lau on here as well as zOMG. Slagged them so much I got hell for doing it too much, and it resulted in my first meltdown here. Scrap remembers a meltdown I had at WP from '07, but that's all history now anyway. So if your reasoning is correct, I should have got something from one of them suggesting it was all a mistake blah-blah. What I did get was a whole bunch of crap saying I should be perma-banned, as I had re-registered at least 5 times under different accounts and they just didn't like my style of attacking bullshit. If you remember the names The_Chosen_One, Voltaire, Ogouferay, and at least a couple of others, then you can check some of those posts. That's if QM and sins hadn't delted the fuckers.
So prove to me again how easy it is to get your account back, and I might believe it. After even going to Plank via email, and telling him of their fuckery, even he didn't give a shit, and he runs the place.

Those 2 you mentioned were just plebes like the rest of the membership when I got the flick. The main mods were QM, MarketyMark, Lau, TM1, maybe gbollard and sins had been appointed after my original ban. She was fucking crazy, and had more balls than the rest of the male mods put together. QM obvioulsy had a thing for Fagtime, as he wouldn't have a bar of anyone going after him.
BTW, one of the best contributors in PPR then was Flagg.
