Post by: 'Butterflies' on July 04, 2013, 10:20:02 AM
I wasn't sure whether to post in the "back again" thread, or to start an intro thread, but I figure that a lot of you won't know me, so I may as well introduce myself.

I posted a lot back in the old days (it sounds so weird saying that  ,) but quite a lot has happened IRL since then.
My dad died. It was a bit of a shock, but we weren't close at all. In fact, we pretty much hated each other  We did kinda make up in the end though, which was good.
I finally came mostly "out of the closet " as bi, and since then, I've had a relationship with a girl, and a guy, and I'm currently dating a lovely girl.

Most importantly though, as a family, we have decided to leave this God-forsaken shithole called N.Ireland, and move to Budapest. Just as soon as my Great Aunt, who is in the very final stages of dementia, dies. She is now losing the ability to swallow, so it shouldn't be too long.
It's starting to look like a mass exodus. At first it was just my Aunt, Uncle, Cousin and his girlfriend, myself, and my sister, but now all of our good friends have agreed to come with us :green: Even my best friends brother and his fiance and their 2 kids have agreed to come :green: :green:
In case any of you can't tell, I can barely contain my excitement

Annoyingly though, all we can do is wait, and it's killing me  So after seeing Semicolon turn up here again, I think I might try to kill some time here.

Lit is right. It is "For Budapest" :green:

Hi Lutra. TBH, it wasn't just my decision. My aunt and uncle wanted to move to the south of France. Myself and my cousin wanted to live in a great world city. Budapest just appealed to all of us, and one of my aunts best friends lives there, so that was a big reason for her wanting to move there.
I can only really speak for myself, but it was always a city that fascinated me. It kinda seems like a big crossroads between North Europe and South Europe, and of course, East and West Europe. Ive always thought Prague looked so amazing, for similar reasons.
The architecture looks stunning, and it looks like such a romantic city. It has an underground railway which is so cool, and it has trams. I love trams :green:

I've spent so long on Google Earth, just walking around, seeing the city.
So, Lit is right. We are moving to Budapest, just for Budapest.

Hi Butterflies,

Do you think you'll stay in Budapest, or could this mass moving become a tradition, with the whole clan moving elsewhere every decade or so?

Hi Py :green: It was cancer. And my parents decided not to tell me or my sister that he was ill. I suppose that just goes to show how close we were to our parents  I was on a short trip back to Scotland with my sister, when I heard the news from a relative.
I stayed around until he died, but things were still so bad between him and my sister, that she just went home and never had a chance to try and sort out thir issues.

Its so weird. It feels like some kind of life-changing experience for me, and I do have a different attitude to life now, but I don't know why. I still can't think back about him with any real affection, and I can't even say he was a good person or a good dad.

but now all of our good friends have agreed to come with us :green: Even my best friends brother and his fiance and their 2 kids have agreed to come

That part seems odd; have never moved to follow a friend.

It does sound weird  but there is some logic to it.

I missed my friends from Scotland, so when my best friend was having problems, I persuaded her to move across. Then I tried to help my sister by doing something nice for her, but our parents totally fell out with her because of it, so she moved across.
Then I had a nice house lying empty, and my best friends brother, who is one of my best mates, needed a nice house, so we persuaded him and his family to move across.
So, eventually I had managed to transport a lot of my old social life over to N.Ireland

They all stay in our house, or in a house owned by me. The main house is getting converted into apartments when we leave, and they don't have their own places to live.

My cousins best friend is from Latvia, and he came over here to be a translator. He failed to get a job, and ended up working on a building site. Him and his girlfriend hate it here, so they just fancy a new start. He is going to be our translator :headbang2:

We've told them all that we'll make sure they have really nice houses to live in, and that they won't need to work if they can't be bothered. None of them really like N.Ireland, and apart from my cousins girlfriend, none of them are even N.Irish. They all seem pretty happy to just tag along.

Hi Butterflies,

Do you think you'll stay in Budapest, or could this mass moving become a tradition, with the whole clan moving elsewhere every decade or so?

Hi Hyke :green: That is a good question. My aunt and uncle aren't too healthy, and they've made it clear that this is their last move. I don't think there's any chance they will move again. But, I don't know what will happen when they die.

I kinda like the idea of us all moving every decade or so. If it was up to me, then I might just choose to move slowly around the world.
I have to bear in mind though, that while I tend to float through life without putting down roots, the rest of my friends aren't like that. They're all at an age where they will be looking to settle down soon, or already have.
One has 2 kids, so they'll obviously be educated in Hungary, so I dunno how happy they'd be to move just because I want to .
I imagine that 10 years down the line, they will all have kids, and I think that would make a mass exodus even harder.

I suppose that because of the kids, its unlikely that we would do this again. If I get bored in Budapest, I suppose I might try to persuade everyone to move to New York, or Paris, or something, but I don't think I'd be successful

Hello, and congratulations for coming out of the closet as Bi.

Hi McJ, and thanks :green:

My "coming out" has been a pretty long drawn-out affair. I came out to my closest family, my aunt, uncle, and cousin, a couple of years ago, but I stayed in the closet with everyone else.
I knew they would be supportive, but I was quite concerned about how my best friend would take it. We grew up together, started dating guys around the same time. We would always talk about guys, and what guys were hot  I was worried that she would see all of that as lies when she knew I was gay.

The response I got from all my friends was very liberating. They were all really supportive. Far more so than I was expecting.
They've even gone so far as to help me to get to know girls on the internet, and my best friend even goes to the bother of coming along on first and second dates, because I'm a bit scared of meeting people from the internet on my own.

So, the short answer. Yes. It's very liberating to be able to talk to my friends about fancying girls, and for them to be so encouraging about things. Its great to be able to date whoever I want, and everyone be supportive of me.
I didn't really expect it to go so well :green:

Thanks :)

Sadly, I stopped personally renovating property when I moved away from Scotland. N.Ireland isn't much good for doing what I do, so I buy in Scotland and  get my aunt and uncles building company to renovate them for me. For free :headbang2: :headbang2: :headbang2:
I expect to continue doing that when I leave.

I don't know if I'll be buying up property in Budapest as well. On one hand, there is a near endless supply of beautiful rundown old apartment blocks, and the prices are so low it's unbelievable.
On the other hand, I have no contacts, I don't know what areas are good for rental, I dont know what kind of prices I would be able to rent them for, and I have no experts ready to step in if I get in over my head.

If I do decide to do it, it would just be a very small time thing. It would just be a hobby to help me get to know the area. It would be a long time before I would consider doing it on a larger scale.

And no, I can't speak any Magyar yet, although I can read a tiny bit of it. Sadly, all I can read is ads for houses on estate agents  I know what a konya, furdo, and szoba are, but I couldn't tell you the Hungarian word for food, or even hello :-[
I'm not superstitious at all, but I can't bring myself to learn the language incase I jinx things :facepalm2: :facepalm2:

Thanks. I would never want to give the impression that he was abusive though. Perhaps very slightly mentally abusive, but not a real abuser.

Its not nice to speak ill of the dead, but the truth is, my dad wasn't a terrible person. He was just a king-sized jerk.
He was an undiagnosed aspie, and I just don't think he could understand that I was a separate person, and not just an extension of him.

Nice to see you

Much luck in your new location

Hi Adam. Sadly no to Manchester. I liked the idea of London, but nobody else did.

She's cute. Kinda reddish hair, with a pony-tail, and freckles. She looks very "Irish"
She plays tennis, badly, and she works in a hotel in Belfast. I'm her first girlfriend. She "came out of the closet" recently, just like I did, but unfortunately she lost her friends because of it.
She's shy, and very sweet. She seems less at ease with society than I am, although she seems to have made a big effort to get along with my friends.
I suppose she's just a nice normal girl.

I have no idea if it will go anywhere. I can't say that I'm in love with her, but I am very fond of her. Obviously, I plan to move away soon, so we've agreed to not think about the future. If it does develop into something serious, then hopefully she would come with me.

I can understand the appeal of living out in the middle of nowhere, but I could never do it. I love to walk in the countryside, but I need to live somewhere where people are around me. I'm just not self-sufficient enough to live in the wilds.

I couldn't bear the thought of not having good takeaways nearby. If Im not close enough to at least a few takeaways that I can walk to them when Im drunk, then I just wouldnt be happy :GA:

The Protestants are the worst here, and Ian Paisleys son is amongst the worst. He is a vile homophobic bastard. They are such nasty people, but they think they are so pious. I'd suggest you begin by cupping the underside of her left breast with your right hand, put your left arm around her, placing your left hand on the small of her back.
Pull her close.
Kiss her gently on the neck just below the ear.

Pull back.  Give an innocent giggle and a dirty smile.
Rip off her clothes.
Grab her hand. Lead her to the bed.

Repeat step one
Push her onto the bed.
Kneel down in front of her.
Spread her legs.
Lick you lips.
Smile innocently this time...

That is a shame.  It is a good job you have your Aunt and your other family.

Do you want children, ever  ?

I think I do, but not for a long time. I would like 1 child, and I would want to wait until I was pretty much as old as possible. I know lots of 23 year olds have families, but I dont feel anywhere near ready, or anywhere near mature enough to raise a child.
I know Id be a great parent when it comes to entertaining the child, and playing with it. i know Id be good that way, but I would totally suck at discipline, and telling it what to do.

In some ways though, I just think that I might be happy to be an aunt. I know all of my friends are likely to have kids, so I know I could be the fun aunt, without any of the responsibilities.

My heart says I want a child one day, but my brain says, stick to being an aunt

Elevation as in promotion?  That would be funny!

Looking forward to reading about your journey and then life in Budapest. :)

Hi Ren, and thanks :green:

I had never really thought about whether I would still post here after I leave, but you are right. I will definitely make a point of dropping in, and letting folks here know how I'm getting on. Even if it is just to say hi.

Ive never really taken photos before, but I will have to get a camera and take pictures of the train journey, as its probably gonna be a once in a lifetime journey for me. I imagine I'll be seeing sights that I'll never see again.
I'll also want to take a lot of pictures of Budapest. The first thing I plan on doing, is visiting all the sights. Im seriously thinking of getting a motorbike, and seeing the rest of Hungary too.

I will try and make sure I post a lot of my photos here.

:lol1: :lol1:

Ive already got a car. Im gonna get it converted so that the steering wheel is on the proper side for driving in Hungary.
I will definitely need a bike too though. Im not really all that keen on driving cars, especially in the hot weather. Im just not sure whether to just get a wee safe scooter, or get myself a flying Japanese death-machine :headbang2:
I want the death-machine. It seems that most of Hungary, outside of Budapest, is really quite empty, so it seems like a perfect bike riding landscape.

I would imagine I will pass through Germany, but I think Poland might be a bit out of the way. I would need quite a bit of a detour to see Poland.
In time though, I will make an effort to see Warsaw. Eastern Europe has always fascinated me, and I'll be easily able to traval throughout it without having to fly.

Do you wear buttfloss?   :booty:

Not any more. I wore one a few times when I was younger, but it was too uncomfortable, so I just went back to wearing granny-panties

Liar!Liar!PantiesOnFire!   :zoinks:

You try wearing a thong for a day, and then tell me I'm a liar :P

Seriously, they're just about the most uncomfortable thing I've ever worn

So, they are an inconvenience when pooping. Without them you could do it without the spreading. Much more efficient.
