My name is unusual. There is a police officer in Turku, Finland, by that name, though.

A relative of yours??

No, AFAIK. It's a coincidence.

My last name is unique and I am related to everyone who has it.

Same here.

I have a corrupted spelling of a common (Northern) French name. The spelling only goes back to the 1880's and everyone is descended from that one person.

Indeed! Is it from an obscure language?   :orly:

It is a very long German name and all but a few of the last of us left Germany in the early 1900s to escape WWI. We were of royal descent and fled, leaving behind our land and castle. We settled in Southern Indiana and the Louisville, KY area. Recent generations are producin girls at an alarming rate, so the name is dwindling once again. A handful remain in Germany too!

That's fantastic! What title might you have today if you were still in Germany?   :toporly:

I am not sure, but my grandfather was the second-born son, so probably nothing significant. He and his brother fought for the US in WWII.

My last name is unique and I am related to everyone who has it.

My last name isn't really unique, but I'm related to most people in this county who bear it, and it's a county with 1.5 million people.  8)

In whole Sweden there were 14 people with my name the last time I checked, but some spell it differently. My first name is spelt like in English, though I'd guess at least half of the Swedes who bear it spell it differently. In  the 70's, when I was born, international names and international spelling was popular. Now they name kids like old geezers and little ladies were named when I was a kid, like Gustav, Tilda, etc.  :-\

Too bad, you could have sped around Turku in the Jag without getting a ticket!   :hotrodder:

You can speed in a Jag without getting a ticket anyway, because the cowardly cop cars only do 260 km/h. You just have to buy a Jag that does 300 km/h.  :viking:
