Serene.

Like this? :meditate:

Somewhat.  Talked to my Polish tutor and gave her advice today.  Was really cleansing.  She's a great woman  8)

Is she Polish, or does she tutor you in the speaking of Polish, or both? :chin:

She's helping me prepare for my Polish exam.  I can speak Polish already :P

Well, yes, but sometimes you can get rusty in your native language if you don't use it every day.  :P

I only talk to my mum in Polish

It's good that you use the language every day. My father was once bilingual, but stopped speaking and writing German, and now doesn't remember it. :(

Was he originally from Germany?  Or did he learn it from his parents?

His parents were Austrian immigrants. He was born here and grew up fluent in both languages.

It's a shame he forgot it :(

It really is. He just didn't have any close family here except his parents, so there was no one with whom to speak it regularly in his middle years. :(

Well, it's better than losing the language he is surrounded with. You hear that happening quite a lot. And then they are in a country with a language no-one speaks, not even their kids.

We never learned any German except one phrase, "Glauben heist nicht Vissen" (sp?), which my father translated as "Believing is not knowing."

My back hurts a little but otherwise I'm OK.

What did you do to it? Was it a spasm? I know those really hurt. :thumbdn:

I have no idea. :-\
