This is I². Not one of those social justice fanfic communities where everybody tiptoes around lest they step on somebody's precious feelings.

This  :asthing: is to poke fun at myself for not knowing you were joking.

I see. I am really depressed right now and coffee ain't working. To the elliptical I go. Also, my plot outline isn't horribly written, like My Immortal, just missing some corrections.

I think you're jumping the gun. I haven't even asked PMS Elle what her project is about, let alone offered to read any of it. Because it's not about ego stroking, it's about getting shit done.

I'll poke you to start your draft though.  :zoinks:

If you wanna write, then write. It is that easy and that hard.

Back in the day when I wrote for a living, I produced a ridiculous number of words every month. It was a job and really nothing magical, and I don't think I ever worried about it much. Granted, it wasn't fiction (unless you count dwelling over the various features of a product as such), but it was writing at a steady pace.

I believe many aspiring writers often confuse two different aspects of writing--there's the craftsmanship part where you simply produce words in approximately the right order, following a predetermined syntax, and there's the creative part where you decide what the words are about and where they lead. When the words aren't coming out the way they should, they tend to think it's the dreaded writer's block when it's actually nothing more than a problem with learning the basics.

This is not about anyone in particular, btw, just an observation.

I was thinking along the lines of mutually agreeing to keep at the novels till 50k words have been written, no matter how long it takes, and periodically checking saying to one another "YOU DO MORE WRITING ON THAT NOVEL???" till 50k words have happened or till one of us taps out because we've. lost interest and no longer want to deal with it.  No particularly huge carrot or stick, just using accountability as a motivator.

I like this plan. You're on. You have official permission to kick my butt whenever you want about writing.
Ditto.  =)

*nod*  It's tougher now that I'm working full time than it was when I was in school and had more free time.  It does take more self-discipline now to sit down and write (especially creatively) after I'm coming home from work and have the strong urge to just sit and veg.

I do have, arguably, "writing" involved with my job, and that gets done when it needs to get done, and I do it right.  Creative writing (especially for myself vs. with a real deadline) is more of a challenge, motivationally, than non-creative writing/writing I know *must* be done.  May just be me though.
