Unpublic behavior
« on: July 02, 2006, 07:49:49 PM »
So I think I understand the purpose of this site - no censorship, no heavy-handed moderation, in exchange for people being responsible for their words.

BUT

What if people are abusive in their PMs to you?  How can they be held responsible?

I'll plan on ignoring obnoxious posts, but I wanted to point out the flaw in the system, that being private messages where people can be assholes and not be called on it.

fuck it.

if someone is being offensive then post their pms to you.
post your replies, then their replies.

if someone want to harrass someone else via pm, i suggest we take that safeguard away.  but i don't think it should apply to previous abuses.  what would that be, ex post facto?

anyways, bring up the subject in the voting booth and start a poll.  and there is a function where you can ignore certain people from pm'ing you.  i doint know how to do it, but someone else might.

there are options, triste.  make the system work to your benefit.
Why are you such a stupid asshole?
Would you really like to know?
Well pay your fee remove your clothes and Yvette will show you how
You went to school where you were taught to fear and to obey, be cheerful, fit in, or someone might think you're weird
Life can be perfect
People can be trusted
Someday, I will fall in love; a nice quiet home of my very own
Free from all the pain
Happy and having fun all the time
It never happened, did it?

To block PM's from certain members: go to your profile page, under 'Modify profile' there is 'personal message options', on that page you can add members to your ignore list.

Its funny that you bring this topic up now since I was just thinking about that yesterday-I've had none of these type of pms but it crossed my mind that it was something that may happen to some of the members from time to time.

I never/rarely get PMs or emails abusive or otherwise - being in an older age group which I make public, people don't bother. It can be a good idea to make your age group public if you're older, because a lot of PMing is about dating/mating/hating within a similar age group.

I only got one offensive PM at WP and I just posted it straight away. go public with offensive stuff.

I'm 49!
