boiled egg with a gooey yolk, and toast cut into strips to dunk into it (the soldiers)
Beyond the pale. Way, way beyond the pale.

Liquorice sticks with sherbet crystals inside. 'Vimto' flavoured candy pellets. Watermelon. Lots and lots of lemon juice-soaked watermelon.

In Swedish that's called "poor knights" - "fattiga riddare".  8)

Weird Yanks not understanding British English. I think "yellowbent" sounds a bit retarded, but I know that it is the Norwegian word for "banana". :eyebrow:

A bloody Swede like myself knows the differences:

paracetamol=acetaminophen
mobile phone=cellphone
petrol=gasoline
cracker=firecracker
pavement=sidewalk
flat=apartment
fag=cig
chips=french fries

Bread is what we buy at a bakery. :smarty:

Cut up into thin strips, toasted or not, that's what turns bread into soldiers. You can line them up and pretend a parade happening.  :autism:

quite right,  also,  when you cut them up,  you will get three types (or ranks)
1.  just bread   =  common soldier,  or, as i was known  'a private'
2. bread with a crust on one side only  =  Non Commissioned Officers (mine are Corporals)
3. a corner crust  =  Commissioned big wigs  (A 'General' would out rank a 'Brigadier' but my big wigs are always Brigadiers because i like the sound of it when i use my posh voice)
blah blah blah

Not in my army!  It doesn't sound as pompous as Brigadier!
