I had a microwaveable breakfast of ham, cheese and scrambled eggs.  There was a lot less food
in the box than the picture led me to expect.  Don't believe the hype!  Don't fall for the bullshit!  :soapbox:

Made mushroom soup today and I ate some of it this evening.

^Shame the colours are a bit off.

Promised CBC to post a picture (thus) and the recipe..

Simple mushroom soup recipe (for 2/3 bowls of soup).
- 10 ~ 12 button mushrooms.. cleaned and chopped up in slices
- small (wh.) onion.. chopped up finely
- knob of butter (the real stuff)
- bit of plain flour.. maybe a little more than a teaspoon
- glove of garlic (via crusher)
- half a teaspoon of dried thyme
- p/m 1 liter of chicken stock
- tablespoon of sour cream
- chives.. quite a bit/chopped up finely
- salt and pepper (to s/o's own taste.. )
__________________________________
Hot pan.. and the knob of butter goes in first. Then the finely chopped onion immiatietly after that and add the dried thyme too. Throw in the slices of mushroom after p/m two minutes and leave the heat on a high temperature (to make sure the mushrooms stay firm). Add the flower 2/3 minutes after that and de-raw it for a coupe of minutes. Add the chicken broth and the crushed garlic and let it all simmer for p/m 5 minutes. Taste a little bit of it (don't burn your mouth) and add some freshly grounded pepper and some salt to your own taste. Add the sour cream and dissolve it into the soup. Add the finely chopped chives and serve in a bowl. Voilà!

Some folks blender the soup at the end (I don't) and most add sherry to it (I don't/dislike the stuff)

Um, v'been meaning to replace them, tbh. They're old and I'm bored with them. For quite a while now I want (simple but) pretty square ones. Good quality plates.

Going to buy some (4?) soon..

It's interesting how people's taste varies.  I think square plates would bother me.

Neither, I think.. but I don't know, now. Looking into 'it' and properly selecting them needs to be done.. coming week, I reckon. Maybe Xenos.. but I think that just spells a little weird.

Um, tjah.. maybe some of them would bother me too.. but there are also cool ones around, I know. Restaurant quality, preferably.

So, you'll be wanting porcelain, and not earthenware.

A while ago we had great ones in the thrift-shop. But I had decided against square plates, so did not buy them.

Willl need to go out today and food shop, but at least I'm going to have a very long restotative sleep-in, after my stressful hospitail stay getting that bite to my hand looked at.

Comfort food and phamaceuticals :P

Right now pouring myself a snifter of a really rather singular speciality beer.  Based on fermenting a mixture of the usual hops, malt, barley, grain etc, but with the addition of at least 15% dark cherry fruit. The result is something with very strong winelike overtones, and quite a formidable alcohol content, with a very very rich flavour, best served in a brandy glass, one  those shallow-stemmed bowl shaped things, got quite a kick to it, yet it forms a head like a beer and has enough beery and just insufficient wine-y tendencies for me to come down on the side of liking this offering.

Lol lutra, figures, MLA gone off to join daesh haha, its the sort of soapbox that might nurture his being allowed to fester IMO haha.

Insh'allah he will turn in one day using a claymore mine for a pillow.

Baby grand which is baby back ribs made with a Grand Marnier based sauce.

I made some for 8 of the people with whom we shared housing at the ski resort. They gobbled up 7 racks of ribs so I reserved 2/3 of the remaining rack for myself. Py and I had them when we got home. I will be making them again and posting a pic. We got the ribs fresh from a butcher who supplies restaurants. They were astoundingly fresh.

For dinner I had a homemade (duh) cauliflower soup with some toasted bread. Half an hour later an omelet with lots of mushrooms in it.. on a toasted slice of wh. bread. Chicory salad with raisins, pieces of wallnut and apple, flat leave parsley, yellow curry powder, mayo and lemon juice.. on the side.

Should post my simple chicory (witlof) salad here soon for I consider it beautiful and healthy too.

Mmmm, now I am craving for "witlof"salad. With raisins, bit of banana and/or apple, bit of old cheese and small bits of ginger. And a dressing of yoghurt, curry and pepper. Love it.
