(Actually, if a man who was in a significant relationship with one of my homegirls tried to put the moves on me, my only moral dilemma would be that I'd assume that girl woduln't actually want me to kill or even severely disable him, but itI fear the impulase might be overwhelming.  Never to fear, Lucifer!)

I'll be a "documentation specialist", helping various companies and organizations to handle their (mostly technical) information efficiently. Ask me again in a few weeks, but I'll be involved in the whole chain, from presale to analysing information needs, to project management, to just about everything. Pretty cool job, actually. I hope. :laugh:

I love languages in general, and they've always been one of my obsessions. English is a good example of that. As for Spanish, I screened a number of Latin-American films at a film festival a few years ago and loved the sound of the language. I took a break from studying it, eventually, but started again a few months ago.

I've only visited Spain once--Barcelona, before I got interested in the language. I'd love to go again, it was a beautiful city.

Let's take yesterday, then...

8.30 or so... Participated in a meeting about an authoring tool for technical information that we are considering for the document management system that our company offers. Took about two hours or so, during which I pretty much shot the product down by listing some of its technical problems. I also explained to the sales guy why we don't want it, using terminology he knows (non-technical).

10.30... Talked to the sales guy about the document management system we are selling as a product, and what could be done about it.

11.00... Sat down to continue writing an XSLT stylesheet used to convert a customer's technical documents from the XML format they use to HTML, for publishing on the web. I started writing this on Wednesday.

12... A very quick lunch.

12.20... More stylesheet writing, interrupted by various developers who wanted to know more about what tool to use for an authoring environment with a live database connection.

14... Spent time trying to get a version management system working on my work pooter. Failed several times, after which I decided that the Swedish-language Windows XP was to blame. Talked to the system admin about installing an English-language XP instead. Talked to my boss about buying an English XP license since we don't have it in-house.

15... Went back to writing the stylesheet, trying it on a test document I have created for the purpose. Discovered that the structure of the document source could be better so I redefined the parts I was dissatisfied with, and tested my stylesheet again. Better! Spent the rest of the day by fine-tuning the stylesheet.

Left the office around 16.30...
