For years I've been fascinated by names and have put unusual names together in my head,
but I've just never had the occasion to have children.  Just as well.  8)

I kind of prefer old fashioned names. Odder ones, though, like Ursula and Julian.

I dont like just putting weird sounds together. It seems like everyone is making up their kids names from scratch these days. I guess it is because I always had trouble with people spelling my name wrong.

Wouldn't it be nice if your name was spelled Heiress and you were one?

If I ever have kids, which is highly unlikely, I'd name the girl Jean.  I haven't really thought about boys' names.

Prince Albert and I agreed on Kenneth Charles for a boy, even before we thought of marriage.  Six years later we still didn't have a name for a girl.  I liked Victory Rose or Emily Louise.  Can't remember what names he liked.  BTW, the PR has none of these names.

Sadly I didn't get to name my boy any of the names I mentioned in this thread. No way was I going to name my kid Jimmy after an alcoholic in A league of Their Own or Stillwell after the bratty kid and I hate the name anyway. I didn't want to name my Kid Mike after that mean character in Benny & Joon and plus we have enough Mike's in our family and I don't need a third.

If I had a boy, I would LIKE to name him Lord Xanadir, but if I did that, everytime he got asked his name, people would punch him because they'd think he was being a smartass.  :dunno:

I was named after my maternal grandmother, a ladylike Anglo-Irish Catholic!

I was almost named after my maternal grandmother. I am glad I was not.

I was named Lisa because my mother liked that name long before she ever met my dad.  I like old-fashioned names, too.

If I ever have kids, which is highly unlikely, I'd name the girl Jean.  I haven't really thought about boys' names.

Jean could be a boy's name too, though.

I knew a woman named Jean and she was a wonderful person whom everyone loved, but in her case Jean was short for Virginia.
