Common with OCDers because of avoiding the things that trigger the symptoms? I think that is understandable.

I was diagnosed with schizoid PD years ago and then a couple of years ago was told I had dependent traits (related to dependent PD). That is a combination I can't figure out.

I have a question: Did you have to do any experiment participation as part of getting your psych degree at your uni?

It was never required, but we often had the option to fill out surveys for people's research projects in-class, and there were always studies being run you could sign up to attend (I was always too lazy).  I also conducted an experiment as a part of my undergrad thesis, but the thesis was optional as well.

Different from where I go to uni, for psychology students it is required that we do 15 hours of research participation before we enter the fourth year. I am listed on the computer system as having done 17 hours but really I have done 26. Stupid people not giving me my hours after I have done them, grr. One experiment I had to turn up three times for it and I never got my hours even though I emailed the experimenter about it.

Am curious to know what your undergrad thesis experiment was?

Yeah, I guess all anxiety disorders come down to that realy. the main things I worked on stopping at ADRU were avoidance and safety behaviours (which is ultimately avoidance too I suppose)

I mean when my social anxiety was bad, it was all AVOID AVOID AVOID. the same as OCD. only it was social situations instead of toilet situations. So if you're doing that all day every day for years, you can see how that comes up AvPD

Heh; when I think about it, I suppose in a way I'm ultimatley similar in "avoid avoid avoid" about a lot of things, except my "avoid" is often "figure out how to fix the problem/get the task over with/remove or prevent the stressor."  It's made me into a pretty driven person and keeps me from procrastinating very much, but I haven't really built up much in the way of patience.

Agreed. He has come a long way, I find it to be amazing tbh.

Your undergrad thesis sounds interesting. Sample sizes are always a bit of a problem at uni I think. And running all those tests, geez that would have been time consuming!

'twas time-comsuming.  I would've done better for sample size if I hadn't tried recruiting students during the summer, lol.  (It was just how the timing worked out, at the time.)

Lol, I've been working full-time for over two years.  I've finished "whatever course," yes.    ("Whatever course" being a Master's degree.)

Read anything good lately?  I remember you liked Stephen King.

The last book I read was Hunger Games.  I'm not reading as much as I used to, due to, well, time constraints, quite frankly.

Yeah, that was my impression.  He did a very good job of almost sounding like he kind of sort of knew something about me already when he asked if I had finished "whatever course."  Very slick.  Clearly, a master pick-up artist.

I have my own office, so, no.  Also, I don't get breaks, so much as unanticipateable gaps in the work I would do nonstop during the day if my days went as planned.
