I agree about the rain. I'm going up to the Gold Coast Monday, and I'm probably going to go to Brisbane one of the days I'm up there. We already have theme park passes, but I could use some tips on other fun things to do up there, thanks. :)

Well, we didn't cross paths, but I still want the QC opinion on the Gold Coast and what did you do in Brisbane? (if you made it up here).

I loved the Gold Coast and wished I could have spent more time there. We did a tour of Brisbane (that's why I couldn't really meet up) because we were told it would be difficult to see everything there if we just went up ourselves. The good thing about that was they picked us up right at our hotel. Unfortunately, the tour wasn't that great, but at least we got to see a few sights and see the shops.

I'm glad you liked the Gold Coast, shame about the tour of Brisbane - that's why I offered you tips, silly!!  I have a much more cultural side than would appear here.  Tell me the shittiest place they took you to where you were disappointed.

What annoyed me was some of the places we were supposed to go, they didn't take us to. The tour started really early (they picked us up at 8 am), and the guide said we were skipping China Town because it was early. It's not like we CHOSE to go early; that was the only time available. There was another place we skipped, but I forget what it was.  I also didn't think the Botanic Gardens was that impressive, and I didn't see as much of the city as I would have liked.

I caught up with series two of Supernatural a few weeks ago, but forgot you'd asked me what I thought of the ending.  I was actually a little underwhelmed by it- but I found that with the end of season one too.   For some reason the last episodes never seem to be as good as the rest of the season.

What are you filling your time with now you've finished watching them all?

I can see how you would be overwhelmed. I liked the finales of both seasons, because a lot of things came together...but there are also more questions that make me anticipate the next season.

I've been downloading torrents since I'm back home and have no "monthly allowance" now. I think I might start downloading episodes of that show Torchwood...do you ever watch it? I saw a couple episodes in Australia and thought it was pretty good. I'm also back at work now.

I didn't realise you were back home- when did that happen??

Yeah I saw almost all of Torchwood- I missed a couple because I'm not a fan of Dr Who and I thought it was going to be the same, but I liked it.

I got home July 10th, so a little over a week ago. I miss Australia already.

Yes, it is a little bit of a fizzer.  Brisbane used to be a bit like that, but it's changed a somewhat.  Sorry you got a shit tour QC.  Chinatown isn't that hot anymore anyway.  I'd be thinking the new Art Gallery, Treasury Casino (because it's a beautiful heritage building), Newstead House and New Farm Park or Roma St Parklands.  A trip down the river on a ferry is great to get a good feel for all the precincts too.

Botanical Gardens are more historical than hip these days...althought the Riverstage is where some good concerts are held and on Summer nights they have open air movies there where you can lie on a blanket with friends and eat and drink.  It was the site of the first farms in the area I believe.  There's also a great heritage arcade in the Queen St Mall.  But Brisbane can be a let down if you have a pox tour.

I actually would have liked to see Perth. I heard it's beautiful there.

ol, I actually went in the Queen Street Mall, and a couple other malls in that area. Queen Street is pretty cool. I wanted to go to China Town because I never got around to going to the one in Sydney. They offered a trip down the river by ferry, but it was at an extra charge, and my friend and I wanted to go to the shops. We wouldn't have had time to go to the shops if we went on the cruise. The other places you mentioned sound nice too. Who knows, maybe I will go back to Australia one day. I'd definitely like to.
