It's not a really exciting story. Basically I was bored and wanted to know how to make an IRC channel, so I made it as an experiment. I didn't really plan on using it. Then one day someone was trolling in the wrongplanet chat, and it pissed a bunch of us off... so when someone said something about making/going into a different chat,I mentioned mine. The rest is history.

It's hard to decide among betraying my trust, lying to me,and using me, but when I try to think of a situation, one situation sticks out in particular.

A while ago I had a friend who was pretty mean to me and for some reason I took her shit. I guess because of low self-esteem. I remember we both auditioned for select chorus (regular chorus allowed anyone in and there were well over a hundred members...for select about 40-45 of the people who auditioned were picked). I made it, and she didn't. Now if I were in her shoes, I would have felt bad but still congratulated my friend. What she did was get very angry and acted like it was my fault. She didn't forget it either. I believe on a few different occasions, she told me, "I should have made select chorus, not you." Basically, she was unsupportive and occasionally verbally abusive...and she was supposed to be my friend.

Heh, I realize that's kind of petty, but it's the first thing that came to mind.

haha...I'm not banned from my own chatroom...but to answer your question, I'm banned from the forums and not from #wrongplanet chat, which I still frequent since it's very different from the site. I actually almost got banned from #wrongplanet chat recently, but that's another story.

I personally prefer chatting to forums, even though I'm also addicted to forums. It's interesting to see how people act in "real time" as opposed to just in their posts, and it helps me get a better sense of who they are. It's closer to an IM conversation except there are a bunch of people to help keep the conversation going. Also, it feels more personal than message boards.
