Well, the word Google comes from "googol", that is a number with one 1 and 100 zeros and was invented by a nephew of the American matematician Edward Kashner.  8)

By the way, to be precise about that nitrocellulose thing; it was a German chemist who wiped up nitric acid with his wife's cotton apron an then hanged it near the oven to dry it. The apron exploded!  ;D
