My daughter has grown up with me and I have never been anything but transparent with her about the effects of alcohol.
Unlike me and unfortunately for her she is a one pot screamer. Actually, that is not strictly true. She is like her mother. Her mother gets drunk quickly and then graduates quickly to hangover stage.

None of this is necessarily bad but she does get pissed off when I call her after having drunk the literal equivalent of 3/4 of a bottle of liquor in 3 hours at a part and drink more here, She takes her snapchat of drunk Dad to try to sway her friends opinion (they will only love me more) and she promises to "wake me later" which come to think on it I really hope is not just words

One pot screamer? not a term I'm familiar with, but I assume it means something like 'real fucking lightweight' when it comes to drinking.

And what kind of liquor? if you mean beer, lager etc. then she has a problem of some sort :P
Damn, I can't even GET drunk on beer. Well, I can, sort of. But I have to really work hard at it. There is so much water in it compared to the alcohol content that my stomach gets so full of liquid that it can't hold any more, and by the time I can piss it out then any effects of the first lot, from the alcohol, have more or less faded.

And thats whilst taking a med that as a side effect, really, really intensifies the effects of alcohol (although one shouldn't drink on it at all really). Generally though I'm not much of a drinker. About the only use I have for alcohol, other than a lab solvent/reactant is for those last 3-4 hours before I am due to pick up another script for my pain meds in the coming morning, and everything is wearing off, leaving me sore all over from the waist down and feeling overloaded and shitty, so sometimes I'll drink then, a pint of vodka or dark rum, and it'll leave me enough time to smoke a cigar before out I go, and then its time to pick the new meds up. Otherwise its just a foul-smelling solvent and something that can be used to make a few useful other things.

Have a low tolerance for alcohol, and generally a low tolerance for intoxicated people. Not sure if it's connected.

I agree with Calandale.

In addition I would classify heavy drinkers on a scale with "high-functioning" on one end and "low-functioning" on the other end. Al sounds like he is on the "high functioning" end. And we could use David Hasselhoff to illustrate the "low functioning" end of the scale.

High-physical-tolerance is different. I'm sure we all know of people who drink heavily for decades without any health issues or apparent ill-effects. While others drinking the same amount end up as physical wrecks who can barely string a few words together.

  I haven't drunk alcohol (with the possible exception of cough medicine) since ringing in Y2K.
   I don't like to be around drunk people either.  It's no fun when I'm the only one sober.  :P

I keep a bottle of blackberry wine by my bed.  And I drink straight from it.  Who has time to pour cheap wine?
