Always thought catholicism was the least bad of the christian varieties. Or maybe I'm just weird.

For the most part I would agree with that one.  One of the pain in the ass things about dealing with things from within the church is the bureaucracy involved all it takes is one person higher up on the chain of command who is a hard ass and your done

Is there a specific reason for that, or the one most accustomed to being around?

It's an impression I've acquired over the years, reading books and watching films. There are precious few Catholics around me.

It's not a rational, well-founded observation, mind.

Having been raised Catholic and briefly identified as fundamentalist, I find Catholics less tiring
because they are less likely than fundies to proselytize.  But the more moderate Protestant
denominations are also less aggressively evangelical than the fundies, in my (limited) experience.  :apondering:

I think I enjoy Catholic's more than the other religious sects. I grew up in a mostly Catholic, Italian town so I might be biased also.

They didn't preach to you, they had cool statues, rosaries, and the churches were architecturally interesting giving you something to look at when you were bored to death if you got trapped there on a Sunday with your friends.

Most of the Catholics I knew where a wild bunch too, they believed they could do anything and as long as they went to confession afterwards they were safe.

That's why if I'm ever religious, I'm totally going to be catholic.  :zoinks:

I've never tried telling them I'm a Catholic. I should, probably.

Show them some religious medals, or whip out a rosary.  Fun for everyone!

Maybe I could just introduce myself as Satan. :zoinks:

Understand them to believe anyone who isn't a Jehovah witness is under the control of satan, so introducing one's self as such might be expected.

There should be no surprises, then.
