Finally watched through Tiger King. Nutty but ultimately underwhelming.

"The Dig" on Netflix.
Ever got that feeling that you're trying to teach a dog a card trick?

I've seen an episode of American Pickers. Geez, people keep entire barns full of junk! And then they drive a hard bargain when it comes to selling it!
Hoarding is a mental disorder often triggered by trauma. Not only do they believe their possessions have unrealistic value, but also don't really want to get rid of it. The inside of their home probably looks similar to the barn.

We have this annual event that I call Junk Out The Front where households put their old stuff they no longer want out on the front verge to be collected by very large trucks. This would be ideal for the American Pickers to go along and see what people no longer want.

As it happens, Junk Out The Front happens next week. We're putting out a microwave that doesn't work and an office chair that's falling apart.

Borderline hoarding!  I always think of my father in law.  When we helped them clean their barns to make way for the move to Kentucky!  He had a story behind every piece of junk that we hauled out.  Fortunately, we had an organizer lady arrange for giant yard sale and even some pickers to come by.

On Season 3 of Luther.  The PR won't watch it because it's too scary for her, but she loves my sanitized retelling of the episodes.

I am a hoarder, flat out, no question.

I would say I struggle, but most of the time I'm too busy/lazy reading to do anything about it.  I'm in a productive mood right now (about 3 or 4 days a year), so hopefully I can stretch it for more days.  I watched Hoarders for years and it did help me some, but not enough to make a difference.

At least I've differentiated between cleaning the house and clearing the house.  I have to clear my house before I can clean my house.  (I just made a mini breakthrough.  I changed the "the" to "my" in the preceding sentence.)  Small step to taking ownership of "my" situation.

Occasionally watch that show too, but have to avoid the ones about hoarding animals. Sometimes think the show picks certain cases for the shock value. People who live in garbage and fecal squalor don't strike as hoarders and seem to have different problems than people who are disabled by acquiring and keeping too much. See these tendencies in husband but there are designated spaces where it's tolerated, and a minimalist paired with a hoarder balances to appearing somewhat normal.

More Fear The Walking Dead, but the new season of The Blacklist has started airing here now, and season 2 of Dead Pixels is finally here, so that's up next.

Youtube clips. It's all I can bother with.
Sometimes when we sit down with dinner, Kayleigh asks what I want to watch. A lot of the time I say just YouTube clips. It's all I can be bothered with. I don't want to have to fix my attention on something for too long.

I think the pandemic is shortening my attention span. I wanted to start watching the fifth season of The Expanse but changed my mind and watched Youtube instead.
