Snowing like hell was upon us. Beginning to gather.

Not that cold, only about twenty six Fahrenheit as yet, but everything that falls seems to stick to something.
I do not expect much accumulation of snow, in the end.

We had some snow this morning. It's all gone now.

Cold and windy, like January weather this morning.
3F/-16C windy as fuck  wind chill was -18F/-28C. Yeah, sounds like January two weeks from spring  ON FUCKING MARDI GRAS!!. Snowed most of the day, but just lightly. Only made a mess of the sidewalks; roads were not bad.

Warmed up quite a bit now. We are at 14F/-10C. The wind has let up.

My wife is out doing her work at UPS in this horrid weather.

I think we should look into bringing charges against Punxsutawney Phil for testifying falsely.

^Isn't it actually painful to be out in weather like that? 0°C is hard for me to handle.

22.3°C and raining at 11am. Very sticky and humid.

22.3°C and raining at 11am. Very sticky and humid.

I flew from Slovenia to Australia in December 2001. It was -10 C in Slovenia, blizzard conditions, but with a jacket on I was fine.

We had to change planes in Vienna and, because I was on a little plane for that connecting flight from Slovenia to Vienna, we had to walk down a stairway and across the tarmac to the terminal. It was -12C and blowing a very stiff breeze. That is the coldest experience of my life. That jacket really didn't help much. I felt that cold cut right through to my bones. I got pulled up by security when I got to Sydney airport, I was still wearing that jacket as I walked through the airport and it was over 30 degrees Celsius.

Living in Slovenia (with temperatures regularly around -10C in winter) I didn't dress any different for winter than I would for going to work in summer in Sydney, I just threw on a jacket and I was fine. Some people I worked with struggled with the cold and they needed long underwear and fur-lined shoes and gloves and they needed to layer up even under their jackets. Once you get inside a pub or restaurant or shopping mall or home that the heating is on and it's comfortable T-shirt weather.

Your hands and face take a few weeks to adjust to the cold air by improving your circulation.

^We frequently have the kind of stiff breeze you describe. With a couple of degrees below freezing being outside is a nasty experience.

-15C or -20C in Finland in my youth rarely cut through your bones like that.

I think I would be one of those people who can't handle the cold.

When I worked at the mushroom farm, we started at 6am and worked outside. In the winter it could get down to 0°C. I would wear 2 shirts, a jumper and a jacket on top, shorts and work pants on the bottom. Thick socks, fingerless gloves and a beanie.

I also used to go for a swift walk up and down the driveway to warm up before I spent the morning sitting on a forklift.

You get used to it, though. To me, 0C is not very cold, although the winds here sometimes make it less comfortable.

21.6°C and pissing down with rain at 11am. I have to go out in it later to buy cat food. Hopefully it will clean my car.

A few degrees above freezing. Cloudy. Not sure which way this is going.

Yeah I think we may have autumn at last. No temperatures above 29°C during the coming week.

23.6°C and partly cloudy at 12:05pm.

That is why I mentioned my wife's job. She spends the evenings outside in it all. It can certainly be miserable when you are out in it for hours at a time.

I generally just wear a hoodie with a t-shirt under for most winter weather going from warm place to warm place, but in the back of my car I keep a safety net in case of any emergency I might have to face. I keep a complete survival kit in a large gym bag and a masssive parka, plus a -40 rated sleeping bag.
I will be safe if I get into trouble on the road.

You are right, though. Heavy winds, temperatures well below freezing can be considered dangerous, not just uncomfortable.
