Still, I have chemistry work to do, iodine to strip from something, possibly iodine to put INTO something, some bromine to prepare, using chlorine gas, possibly might make some chromyl chloride.
And some work on a weird hydrohalic acid, HCl2I, from the hydrolysis of iodine monochloride, ICl. Odd, odd, odd stuff. Non-oxyacid hydrogen halide based acids are supposed to be of the formula HX where X=a halogen of one's choice.
But never, other than this one that I know of for sure, does hydrogen combine with halogens to form anything other than a binary pair. H-X. Not H, two chlorine atoms and an iodine atom. What an oddball. Have a bit lying around, a byproduct of a synthesis I did a while back,
in particular, of iodine monochloride. , of course, the excessive heat be damned to fucking hellfire, this day is looking out to be pretty much halogen-infested. Like termites in a wooden framed building. Only these termites there are only four of them I'll be coming into contact (not physically) with ever, from iodine upwards, but they only need a group of four to start a colony of rip off your face and liquefy your lungs, burn skin and have both antiseptic properties and very versatile, useful chemistry between them all.
This hydrohalic acid (see my lab thread....going to need to put on protective gear...hot, sweaty protective gear, while its fucking boiling) is going to be investigated. Time to get oldschool and put on my Humphry Davy hat, or my Hennig Brandt (admittedly the latter was an alchemist rather than a chemist), no, maybe a Boyle. Testing to destruction and careful analyses both must be done. Because I'm really quite curious about how such an acid could come to exist.
