Also, as PMSElle says, hummus makes a delicious dip!  I also love
cooked vegetables.  One of the cooks at my job makes sauteed kale and spinach for herself,
cooked in olive oil with some garlic and other seasonings.  I'll bet your mum would cook you
some vegetables if you nagged her stressed the importance of good food for your health!  8)

While I like V8, drinking it always put me in the mind that I was a vampire.  I think it's what the consistency of blood would be if you drank it.

I drank a lot of V8 after my jaw operation just to get some vegetables into me (also drank McDonald's thickshakes :P ) V8 tastes very tomatoey. I haven't tried the fruit one.

Adam, what prompted the change of eating plans?

Bumping this to inspire anyone here now, including myself, who needs to get back to a healthy diet.
Also, this title could be reworked as  "I better eat now!"  That's the mindset I was in earlier.

I've developed a taste for hot chilli peppers. The hotter the better  :evillaugh: The hottest I can easily buy here are habaneros, but I bought lots of seeds from ebay, and I'm going to try to grow them in the summer. I have Carolina Reapers, Scotch Bonnet, Jalapinos,  and lots of different types of habaneros.

Capsaicum, the substance that makes peppers hot, tastes awesome. Healthwise, it's also a bit of a wonder food. Benefits supposedly include, lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, reduces the risk of certain cancers, weight loss, prevent stomach ulcers, and lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes.

Capsaicum also causes our bodies to release endorphins, making us happy.

So, if y'all wanna be happy and awesome, start eating chili peppers :headbang2:

We had some hot cherry peppers at work a few years ago.  I ate one on a day when I was feeling
rather blah, perhaps a bit sad even.  After the burning wore off   :pow:  I felt rather upbeat!

Lately I start coughing when cutting chili peppers. The stronger they are, the more I get the sense of being out of air.

Love the heat in the food. Don't like the sensation of chopping them up anymore.

Yes, when I open the cooker door, I can sometimes barely breathe

The worst thing is when I've been cutting them, and I rub my eye :zombiefuck: :bigcry:

Been there, done that. But the cutting them and feeling my air lacking me is new, and getting worse over time. Once it is cooked, it is fine.

I had grown 30 chiliplants a few years ago, from two chilies with good taste and good heat. Gave a lot of them away, without knowing how hot they would be. Most of mine were fairly mild. But one plant I gave away I got a nice story in return.

Guy had cut his harvested pepper. Made food with it. It was HOT. He washed his hands a few times during the evening and managed not to rub his eyes. Bit before bedtime he went to the toilet and after that he had the urge to put his balls in a bowl of yoghurt, because the pepper was burning them so hard.

Pity he had not kept any seeds of that pepper. Would have loved growing plants from that one.

I can't stand hot things. I will eat curry if it is mild though.

V8 was mentioned earlier. I drink the orange and mango fusion.

Roast those veggies...boiling sucks.

I cut up red potatoes, hunks of red or yellow onion, zucchini, and carrots in a bowl, add a couple of cloves of garlic (I leave my garlic in the husk and remove the husk later, mashing up the garlic and re-adding it to the rest of the veggies after all is done so that it browns nicely and doesn't scorch)...add sea salt, pepper, and drizzle with olive oil, and maybe a sprinkle of tyme...mix to coat.

Spread it out on a foil lined cookie sheet and roast at about 375-400 degrees until it smells heavenly and all is tender.

You can sub any other root veggies, chunks of tomatoes, green pepper...it's all good.
