Visited the bookshop and bought a few books. We bought the daughter an IPod (she's been wanting one of those for a while). Watched CSI.

When you watch CSI in Swedish how close do they get the voices  to the actors in English.  Some of the stuff on the Spanish channels here that are dubbed  are kinda funny with the voices they use

TV shows aren't dubbed to Swedish, thankfully. They are subtitled.

The Spanish channels here dub everything with some comical effects.

Germans do the same. And the Italian. And the Czech, sometimes. It's almost always bad beyond belief.

A spaghetti western has to be dubbed in German.

(memory lane, sorry)

Very glad that apart from children's programs, we don't have dubbing here.

Cartoons and such for children are usually dubbed here. Usually sound completely idiotic. And I think with the Internet kids know English from a very young age anyway now.

What have I done today. Well, I cleaned out the study, filed all that paperwork, heaped all my girls' clothing rejects into charity bags. Cleaned up the desk, got rid of the old computer and set up my laptop there.

Also cleaned out the ironing room, got rid of the old desk, and sorted my painting supplies.

^ *I wish:P

These tasks just seem to keep getting put off!!

I have some Kevin Costner movie that I sometimes watch in German. It's hilarious. :zoinks:

Blame Disney. Their market researchers have told their execs for years that cartoons must be dubbed.

Some kids things are dubbed very well, good translations, good voices. Amazing. In cartoons I don't mind the dubbing then. Others are done without any effort. That's just an ordeal to hear. The girls sometimes watch a thing were every female character that is random is done by the same voice. I so hate it, hearing that same voice time and time again.
