No, I don't think so. I think it's more of a US tradition.

Interesting... I don't like it, but many people do.

Well, I have not drunk anything with alcohol for over three years, now. (My doc forbids it, because of the medication that he subscribes    ---   need another doctor, right?   :evillaugh:)

Anyway, I am going in for a massive blood work on Saturday.  How do I survive this?

Generally, everything is perfect, but my triglycerides are over the roof.

My doc is concerned.

Any ideas on lowering triglycerides?

Work up a regular sweat if you can, and do daily stretching...or else go for long walks and the energy you use will release some of the triglicerides your body has stored. Also avoid sugary and refined foods, bread, and greasy fast foods.

I recommend switching to unrefined sugar (morena is a nice cheap brand), and try to get food as unprocessed as possible. If you eat meat, switch to organic, grass/grain fed animals....and go for leaner meats. (do what you can afford....it can get expensive). Cut the fat off if you can, but really, if you're balancing the meat with regular activity you should be okay. (basically, if you eat meat, you need to have a hunters lifestyle). Switch from using butter to using olive oil, and other plant oils.

Btw....keep a positive attitude...laugh often...this will help. Not sure exactly how, but light-heartedness seems to have good effects on health, while frequent negative and explosive attitudes can increases chances the triglicerides will accumulate into a heart attack.

Good luck!

A simple trick is just to move often...stand up, stretch your arms and legs. If you are athletic, then cutting down on certain fats would be the way to go...use more plant-based fats (coconuts, nuts, legumes), and eat leaner meats.

Hope that helps  :headbang2:
