It's the nature of I², and the personalities that stick around. For some it's only fun for a while, and after that while it stops being fun and becomes something else entirely.

For me this place can sometimes seem down right nasty and exceedingly unfriendly. Very unwelcoming indeed. I can only imagine what it might seem like to someone with a similar personality as like me who doesn't have history with the site...

Not saying I² should change or anything silly like that, just that it's good to be aware of what I² is and isn't, and it isn't the most welcoming of places, so getting new people to come here is always going to be hard, and every member that leaves is going to be sorely felt.

wait a minute- this place isn't exactly UNwelcoming either. The majority of my negative experiences in the past I feel were my own doing: I wanted to be relevant, to be cool, to be a part of the motely gang. i also wanted to save the world...

But upon returning Ive realised, its just fun, with the added bonus that there are opportunities to critically explore ideas, if those ideas are actually genuine ideas, and not advocacy for any ideaology.

I mean, there are instances where folks can come down on others a bit hard. but, one must avoid those traps when possible. and it isnt like assholery is afforded blanket applause, its just that often assholes are willing at be called assholes. but not always. sometimes they crumble.

There's potential for I² to be something unique, but it would require some concerted team effort and leadership... I think.

That's assuming, of course, anyone even wants that I'm thy first place. I mean my vision of I² might be abhorrent to some (no it's not all fully moderated, that'd be the antithesis of Intensity).

But I'd merge some subforums, add some light moderation to only certain subforums (such as the "Forum for people with actual problems they want to talk about").

Improve and expand the Callout make it the co-centre piece of I² along with subforum that is completely unmoderated (barring stuff that would get the site banned), which would combine the Political Pundits, Free For All, Anti Philosophy and Dunc's Sin Bin subforums into one, as they all seem to serve the same function. Though a lot of threads in Free For All belong in General Discussion.

Callout would be moderated only in so far to make sure threads are on topic, like a referee in combat sports. Maybe even make sure participants avoid logical fallacies. The Callout will have a declared winner, possibly thru the Peanut Gallery as it done now. But perhaps with consequences to the loser for being unable to back up their crap?

I'd move some subforums around, change the way members and non-members work. Give Elders actual functional site guidance.

Maybe have a History subforum that charts I²'s history from WP to Neurolands to Intensity to IntensitySquared, add in significant events from the forum for posterity...

Create logos, unique I² themed smileys, I² specific themes. Give them site some identity.

"IntensitySquared - The turd that wouldn't flush"
"IntensitySquared - A pub, online, BYO, SYO."

These are all wild ideas, will likely never ever be implemented. But some even more wilder ideas... Setup a Discord server, with Daily Digests posted to through Forum.
Or add a chat window back in somehow, members only. Some sort of real time chat, so regular get togethers can be scheduled for everyone to come together and shoot the breeze and each other.

Advertise. Spread the gospel of I² on social media and Autism communities.
