Once I was dogsitting at the same time that I was feverish and sick.  Four shelties on the bed
were very toasty and reassuring.   I've retired from dogsitting, but I still love those dogs.

I slept better last night than I did the night before.  Wearing better shoes minimizes the leg pain.  8)

Slept with lots of weird dreams. Woke a lot of times too. Slept during the day too. Again with feverish dreams.

Didn't sleep. Spent all night distilling off dichloromethane from something and saturating it with hydrogen chloride gas with a sulfuric acid based gas generator.

Absolutely lousy.

Fever has broken, but somehow my body has taken in all the sounds and unplanned intrusions. Bit stressed out.
Housing company is working on the houses. We got a strict planning in a letter, but the planning is impossible (it was weird to read, so yes, impossible does make sense). So now the workmen improvise. Never know what it is going to be. According to the original plan, my block would be worked on next week, one week only. Now they have been working on several blocks at the same time, with various things. Mine is the misfortune to have an aggregate in front of the house. Aggregate catering two blocks. I fear it is here to stay for a little longer. They also got new instructions on what to work on. Yesterday I found them pneumatically hammering between the bricks of my shed. Big surprise again. So I'm living in an improvisation renovation site. Expecting a cameraman turning up with a program maker yelling "surprise" every moment. :P
I did put on protective headgear because of the sound. But the source is so close, my body has become all ears.

On a positive note, no fresh painting fumes today (or should I say, not yet).

You have a fever? Shit, Hyke. That is no good at all.  :'(

I came into this thread simply to say that I finally established reasonable sleeping patterns after a lifetime of terrible sleeping pattern, in the last 12 months or so. Makes the world of difference.

It does make make a big difference. Took some time to realise it had chanced for the better for me ( bar last night).

I realised the week before that since a few months I'm happily awake somewhere around 6:30, earlier than I have to. I shake up my bedding before the alarm tells me to get up. Yup, I actually make my bed these days. After that I wash and dress.

Don't know what changed it, but change it did. Have had a time like that before in my live. Was a good time. So positive thing for me.

Find it more easy to get myself to bed too. Not everyday of the week. But way better than the years before.

I do wake a few times every night. I may check the time. Smile at how many hours I still have left, turn over and sleep again.

To be honest I don't know other than I made a concerted effort. ITs going to sound silly but bedtime was a time of agitation and something I would always put off. A time to be on your guard and alert to how things are before you drift off. Disconcerting somehow and it became something that I would present countless last things to do before I went to sleep.

How did you reprogram yourself after so many years?  :orly:

How did you reprogram yourself after so many years?  :orly:

It was very difficult. My fear of going to bed and going to sleep was completely rational and reasonable....when I was a child. It was registering that the problem was and the anxieties were habit and not grounded in existing fears. Then it was going to bed at 10:00pm rain, hail or shine. Embarrassed to say it took me months to break the habit because I would be in bed awake and bored stupid until 2am.  Then a few nights dropping off earlier. Eventually, I was able to drift off. Over the years I tried numerous things but it was not until I came to understand what was really going on for me to do anything about it.
