Decided I could damn well fix/bodge it for way, way less than over $200. Hell, a new washer only costs $350 or so. Took the PR bowling. Washed clothes at my friends house. Brought them home to dry them here. Spent some time in bed because my allergies are really doing a number on me.What is it doing wrong unless it's one of the new computer controlled ones they are not that bad to fixThe tube that goes from the tub to the water level control was blocked. In order to remove it to clean it I had to take the control panel off. When I was trying to reassemble it I found out the plastic "prongs" that hold the water temperature control unit had broken off and it was lying loose since I had taken the control knob off. The guy wanted $108 for a new panel (around $70 on the internet plus $7 or so shipping if I bought it, which he didn't offer as an alternative) and $108 to screw place it in the prongs and screw 4 screws in to secure the panel. Since I don't use hot water I'm simply going to leave the water temperature control alone, put a piece of plastic over the hole where it comes out for the dial and put the control panel back on. It was the sensible solution, but my response was a rigid "Fix it right" thinking rather than "Make it do" thinking. I'm out of pocket $100, but I now know a lot more about washing machines and flexible thinking.

You'll never self-actualize the subconscious canopy of stardust with that attitude.
