Yep, we got some use out of our firepit this evening. It was very warm weather but a pleasant time with the rains holding off until about now - just beginning to sprinkle, but the lightning show has been superb.

Spoke with the city's Parks and Wildlife arborist this morning. I noticed they were out in my front yard at 7AM.
It seems that I have a very rare ash tree that is NOT infested with emerald ash borer as with 99% across North America seem to be.

The forestry service is cutting them down by the millions to affect the borer pandemic. They are watching mine closely.
 

I was told that they had been out twice to this neighborhood cutting down ash trees, mine has been flagged, but so far, no reason to cut it down.




OK, if my ash tree becomes infested, that will make two trees in my front yard the city is going to destroy.

When I asked what I could do to ensure that my ash tree stays healthy, he only said that he wished he knew. Some spray them with NEEM oil. I objected, told him I use NEEM on my roses and it is not an insecticide but a fungicide.
He had no answer.

On a more pleasant note, I started my firepit again today to cook lunch. Both kids are at work and it was just my beautiful wife and me with the dog. We had a great time.

I just defrosted it in the microwave at 20 second intervals :-/

Hobbled around the house and yard doing chores in ten to fifteen minute intervals.  It sucks sit too long and my knee gets stiffer move too much it gets more sore

I did the Saturday housekeeping and vacuumed the cars.

Went shopping with Mom and my sister... only I went to the book store while they went clothes shopping.

Well, I popped in to relate a huge day at the track. I was there early and saw all five races.

Just got home a couple of hours ago. A long shower and some music while I check with my stable of last known "friends" as I begin to succumb to the sun, a little dehydration and an all day work out.

Then the first post I read, I discover the news from Genesis and I only have sorrow for now.

I'll talk more about how fucking awsome this day was at another time.

I got a cool David Bowie themed backpack to use for my laptop and other electronic gizmos.

I cleaned out cabinets and drawers. I also washed our bedspread. I usually love laundry day because the bed smells so fresh and clean when I crawl into it that night. I don't know if I was having an overly sensitive smell day or what, but last night I had trouble falling asleep because the dog seemed especially stinky. I told Sugarbutt I'm washing the bedspread and the dog isn't welcome back in the bed with us unless he gets a bath.
